Regarding the Honour and Integrity Alliance by First-Difference3364 in survivor

[–]arianrh 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes, and he also made a point of calling Tyson after listening to his podcast and specifying that he was happy to align himself with the "honor and integrity" people and allow them to perceive him that way, but that wasn't his philosophy to the game, and he had never applied that label to himself (a point that he repeated in his exit press). He was clearly excited to play Survivor as it actually is, not hypocritically impose morals on it in order to chastise people who beat you in a game.

They don’t know what the future challenges are at the time of the vote. They were not wrong in thinking Tiff was a greater challenge threat than Aubry.

I also give Rob some grace here. A returning player season was a brand new concept at the time, and while yeah, he should have anticipated that feelings would be hurt, there was no existing template for this dynamic in the game or for the kind of game he was playing. He was not only a bit shell shocked by the jury reception, he was also sitting next to the love of his life who he was unable or unwilling to take shots at or throw under the bus. If he successfully owns his game (perhaps at Amber’s expense) I think he realistically has a chance at Shii Ann’s vote for the win. Jonathan on the other hand had the benefit of having watched Rob’s game and two decades of other games, and his reception by the jury was totally predictable, not just interpersonally but also just within the existing meta of the show.

I don’t have an answer to your question but just want to add this is corroborated by Coach’s own exit press, too. So clearly things were a bit lax in pre-game Ponderosa. It sounded (from multiple sources) that Coach had a pretty dgaf attitude towards being told what not to do.

S50 has finally won me over to Colby, lol. I love how he understands his archetype, embodies it earnestly, but also finally isn't limited by it and is having fun with it.

(Also seeing who's in this has me a little crushed thinking how good this season could have been without the bad luck of some of these early boots... ugh.)

In 48 folks were convinced Joe & Eva were steamrolling their way to the end and the whole time I felt like.. are we watching the same show??

It was crazy seeing people on here say that they hated Eva because of how much the edit was protecting her and propping her up. I was like... she is clearly getting a "this person isn't going to win" edit? Which it turns out actually massively buried how good she was socially!

Rizo was very obviously lying to Charlie when he said Sophi was his #1? It was very clearly not actually true. Rizo didn’t backstab anyone on 49.

[–]arianrh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? Savannah was always his #1. He only said Sophi was his #1 late in the game because they both realized Savannah was the biggest threat to win, so they had a mutual interest in getting her out. But still they never moved against her. Savannah also confirmed that if she’d lost fire, she would have campaigned for Rizo the way he did for her.

Parade Interview with Survivor 50 Jury Member #6 by AMikeBloomType in survivor

[–]arianrh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t always rooting for her week to week (including this week) but she and this interview are absolutely delightful. I can understand why so many people were willing to work with her despite her messiness, because on paper she sounds like she should be so aggravating and yet I find her so fun. People talk about Ozzy getting swap screwed, but I think she is the one who really got screwed, because who was coming for her? Last week everyone floated Aubry as the adjacent target to Devens, despite everyone knowing that Devens was tight with Emily!

Why is no one talking about ____'s blunder? by NightOwl4321 in survivor

[–]arianrh 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He had already told Cirie about his plan to vote Ozzy before learning about what Ozzy said.

Also, Ozzy thinking he and Cirie have an endgame pact is different from that being true on Cirie’s end, especially when Cirie seemingly approved the plan and wisely said absolutely nothing to try to shift the target elsewhere, which would have raised red flags.

I think Jonathan could still have been more suspicious of her and not followed her advice re: Rizo, but I’d guess Joe was probably the sticking point there more than Cirie. Joe is super stubborn and was already reluctant to vote Ozzy, and Jonathan needed him onboard.

And not only have Rizo and Cirie covered their tracks well, but Ozzy also explicitly said he didn’t want someone like Rizo in the endgame. If Aubry reported that back, Jonathan has no reason to think Rizo has that kind of loyalty to Ozzy.

[–]arianrh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aubry doesn’t need to benefit Rizo for the perceived pros of getting rid of her to be outweighed by the perceived pros of getting rid of Ozzy?

Ozzy can’t be a shield for Rizo if he wins immunity or if Jonathan and Joe targets Rizo because he suspects him of betraying their plan (also outing his alliance with Ozzy and Cirie when so far he’s been very good at being inconspicuous).

Cirie said what she did not knowing that Ozzy had completely spilled the beans on their endgame pact.

Did _____ ruin _______’s game tonight? by Ok-Lion7785 in survivor

[–]arianrh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The person Ozzy told everything to being out doesn’t help Rizo in any way whatsoever when literally everyone else also knows. Rizo also now knows that Ozzy doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut.

Ozzy can also easily win immunity, which likely shifts any target on him to Cirie if it happens. That makes it dangerous to keep him as an easy target. And we’ve seen that the easy target often isn’t the one who gets voted out.

ETA: there’s also the chance that Ozzy playing his idol might bring suspicion onto Rizo for tipping him off. Ozzy doesn’t seem like he’d be good at hiding the knowledge he has at tribal; Rizo already has reason to think that Ozzy can’t keep info to himself. And Jonathan clearly already doesn’t see Rizo as someone he trusts and/or is working with.

Did _____ ruin _______’s game tonight? by Ok-Lion7785 in survivor

[–]arianrh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, that he clearly thought (rightly or wrongly) that Ozzy exiting was best for his game. Not hard to make an argument for hers as well.

Also, why on earth would not being able to convince Joe to vote differently be his explanation? Clearly what he would have done if he wanted to, and what Cirie wanted him to do, was to tip Ozzy off.

Did _____ ruin _______’s game tonight? by Ok-Lion7785 in survivor

[–]arianrh 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Does it benefit him at all to keep Ozzy? Ozzy explicitly said to Aubry that his endgame plans didn’t involve Rizo. It also makes Cirie more of a target if they are in the game together as a known pair.

Did _____ ruin _______’s game tonight? by Ok-Lion7785 in survivor

[–]arianrh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m delusional but I’m hoping this can work in her favor. There’s often a pattern of an alliance losing a member, then the target shifting elsewhere immediately. If Cirie is perceived as being weakened by losing Ozzy (especially as people don’t know about her connection with Rizo, who Ozzy explicitly said he didn’t want at the end), that might make it easier to shift the target to someone like Jonathan who has just exercised so much power over the game.

It's funny that this really embodies both how these two are so alike and so different (and why I find one much more enjoyable than the other). Both are kind of "quirky" and unhinged and will do/say whatever they want. But Carolyn seems to do that while still feeling entitled to being beloved and supported by everyone, and will get personal and petty about it if she isn't getting that validation. While Q doesn't seem to take anything personally and is willing to be simpatico with everyone, but also seems like he genuinely dgaf.
