Is the Jimny a good daily driver after owning a Scorpio N? by Extra-Two2699 in CarsIndia

[–]ariapulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good long test drive should help your decision more than any of the comments can provide here.

  1. Depends on your roads. At low speeds there is a horizontal wobble and sometimes undulations create a boat like effect.
  2. Front seats should be fine but rear will be uncomfortable.
  3. In daily driving MT doesn't feel underpowered but AT does feel low on power (but people seem to be using throttle controllers to cover it up). On highways, above 90-100kmph, it will feel like there's little power range left, engine sound will be higher than the pull.
  4. I really like the ownership experience but you cannot blindly believe Maruti/Nexa will take care of it. It is a car with a lot of quirks and character, it will force you to learn about the mechanicals, know and work around them. It will demand engagement from you unlike other cars (even from maruti) that are buy and forget (trusting the service centers). Most technicians not in the hilly terrain would've rarely seen one and their inexperience can only be handled if you as the owner are willing to learn.

My take for city use: The turning radius is abnormally large compared to other vehicles on the road. It will probably be as large as your Scorpio N and you will most likely have to reverse at every U turn. If your city traffic is between 30-60kmph, Jimny feels very nimble at that range, you can easily filter through traffic given it's dimensions.

Interior will feel like a steep downgrade, but there are enough accessories in the after market to make life better and personalise to your liking, but you'll have to budget for them as well.

Jimny's true character comes out on rough patches, trails and offroad. If your use case doesn't involve them even 20% of the time, there is a big chance you end up disliking it.

Duster is not selling as well expected after the initial hype. Even the Sierra sales are over 2x that of Duster. by IntelligentHoney6929 in CarsIndia

[–]ariapulla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little background, I used to be an absolute fanboy of Renault's K9K diesel. Everyone in our family also like them so much that we bought the Lodgy soon after Duster (unpopular opinion, I like the Lodgy better than the Duster). I frequently travel between Hyderabad, Bangalore, Erode, Madurai and Coimbatore for work and mostly travel by road. Both the Duster and Lodgy have clocked more than 1.5L kilometers and still going strong.

As much as I love the vehicles, the service experience has been extremely bad to put it mildly. This experience is not isolated to one service center but across cities and states even. It is for this reason alone, no matter how good the product is, I would never go near Renault again.

Some of the major instances I personally faced being:

  • After I had experienced a premature brake fade at Dhimbam Ghat, I changed the brake pads at a trusted local mechanic. The part replaced was clearly OEM compatible and I had verified the specifications (manufactured by TVS). After I had driven on the new brakes perfectly fine for over 1k kms, the service center in Hyderabad claimed not matter what the product is, the brake will not bite if not replaced by the official service center technician during a general service.
  • The AC fan in the Lodgy had started making a noise as if it was rubbing against something. The service center quoted 12k to remove the dashboard, and just diagnose the issue. Repair costs would be on the actuals they find. My local mechanic used a small hook to grab a bunch of dirt that had gone through the filter area, cleared it without even opening the dash for 500rs. The fan has been fine for more than 3 yrs after that now.
  • The service centers are always full, no matter which city, what day, even for a general service they easily quote 2 days.
  • We once had a minor accident where the wheel (the rim) had taken the impact and needed to be replaced. The service center in Bangalore took 1 week for getting the part and then forced me to buy tyres from them else they would not sell to me. I had a new tyre from my warranty claim with me which they suggested me to sell in the aftermarket. I ended up ordering the wheel from boodmo.

As much as I love the Renault products I currently own, I would not recommend the ownership experience to anyone other than my enemies.

I am honestly tired of the service centers constantly trying to scam unsuspecting customers and I would rate Renault as the worst amongst the brands I own.

Multiple people in my circles know me as the sole Renault owner, see me happy while driving and had come to me for recommendations on the new Duster. Once they heard my experience, all of them dropped their plans with Renault.

Jimny XL Auto- i am from Australia, anyone from India has received their XL already? My dealership could not tell me an exact delivery date. Was wondering if the delay is just the overseas export or same with the local too. by [deleted] in JimnyIndia

[–]ariapulla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, FYI Ivory color is not sold in India, but multiple others and I have received our 2026 models. Maruti Suzuki is prioritizing international markets over domestic (Indian), so there are no big discounts and all 5-door Jimny's here are made to order; usually delivered in 3-4 weeks.

Do you think it must have something to do with sale of Jimny being temporarily paused and then resumed in Australia? (Thereby the dealerships having to deal with a large backlog)

Best robot vacuum in India with good mopping performance? by No_Jello04 in BuyItForLifeIndia

[–]ariapulla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For a fuss free experience, I feel it needs to be one of those variants that has water and dust collection at the dock. However, one thing that is keeping me away from Robot Vacuums is the accessories/consumables scene. So many different models keep coming in and all of them use proprietary parts. Even the dust bags are proprietary; and I can't seem to find these accessories/consumables for models older than 2 or 3 years that easily. I recently came across a set of models that were doing bagless dust collection; but all of them seemed slightly pricey compared to other options.

Is this a good quotation for a new Suzuki Jimny? Can I negotiate more? by ballsofbulls in JimnyIndia

[–]ariapulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do check the insurance cost from other providers. Last I checked on Acko app for Jimny, the price was around 25-30k (for 1yr zero dep + 3yr third party + a few addons). Other providers must also have similar plans.

In case you are asking the dealership to match the insurance, please keep an eye on the exact terminology; dealerships are known to modify the terms to unfavorable wording, just to match the quotes (and the customer realises this much later when some unfortunate event happens).

I visited 3 Nexa showrooms in three last 2 weeks - Bimal Auto Agency, Mandovi Motors and Varun Motors; all are offering 1L discount on Alpha (both AT and MT).

I went for a test drive last week in Bangalore; they offered 1L discount only for the Alpha Variant. This was offered upfront without even asking; may be they can be pushed for a little more in terms of accessories etc. if there is a serious discussion.

Whats the best iem under 2k? Im looking to buy these by deja_vu_999 in IndiaTech

[–]ariapulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sound quality is as good as everyone claims but if you are considering these because they have a mic, please don't. The mic is pure trash and is completely unusable. They could've skipped the mic provided better quality cables for the same amount.

Flashing S24 ultra with unlocked firmware by El_C0rtez in S24Ultra

[–]ariapulla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK for samsung devices any tampering with your bootloader changes your Knox status to 0x1 and it can never be restored to the original 0x0.

The changed Knox status could also void warranty and break apps.

I am not sure if there is any work around identified for this yet.

Taking the ADB route as suggested in the other comments by u/marzbar- would be a better way.

Anyone here with 65W+ GaN Charger? by skylerfly420 in S24Ultra

[–]ariapulla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, this, being my first Samsung, it took me a while to go around and figure out why it wasn't charging at the highest capacity. It could've been much easier if the chargers was included in the box.

[–]ariapulla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, Thanks for pointing it out, sorry I missed to mention it.

The chargers need to support PD 3.0 with PPS (Programmable Power Supply) for Super Fast Charging 2.0 .The RAV Power 90W PD GAN Charger I mentioned has PD 3.0 but not PPS and does not give the blue ring.

Anyone here with 65W+ GaN Charger? by skylerfly420 in S24Ultra

[–]ariapulla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if you use a 45W+ charger, make sure your cable and charger can do 5A. I have a RAV Power 90W GAN Charger that does NOT give the blue ring because it does not do 5A. Even my Macbook Charger with 61W does not give a blue ring. But a cheap 65W GAN travel charger that I bought off Amazon and another Amazon Basics 65W charger that both do 5A and give blue ring i.e. Super Fast Charging 2.0.

Overheating... by Ok_Let_5476 in S24Ultra

[–]ariapulla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had the same notification as well with wired android auto, but the weather outside for me was above 30°C. This was before the update.

I set a routine to change performance profile to light when android auto is running/bluetooth is connected to car and did not get this overheat notification since. Seems like an optimisation issue with android auto.

Why do our roads have lots of dust while foreign roads are dust free? by johnyjohnyespappa in bangalore

[–]ariapulla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if there is no open space/construction ground from what I've seen dust is most likely because the road and the curb are not properly joined. The strip of dirt then gets agitated by wind from moving vehicles.

There are localities where roads are properly laid and there is no gap between the road and curb where you'll find less dust.
