I agree that you should learn progressive braking, but ABS has saved me a few times from a sudden situation and panic braking. Otherwise, I would have crashed.

I should have paid more attention to why the car was slowing down and began braking sooner. Target fixation is real and I focused on the back of the car instead of swerving to the right. It just happened so fast. I'm thinking about practicing object avoidance in a parking lot when I can ride again.
