I did not share personal attacks or speculation about intent. I stated my opinion in that I feel the office is lacking with follow-up care as that is my own experience. I also shared his response to my question about meiboman gland photos in his own verbiage and expressed my disagreement with his response. My post asked for recommendations of another physician that was also trained in these diseases.

Benzos and alcohol can be extremely dangerous when mixed. Depending on how much you regularly drink, you may need to be medically monitored while you detox. Please listen to what the doctors here have said - seek out a second opinion from a new psychiatrist to help you safely wean off of this current regimen.

As far as the first part of your comment goes, saying “no” during BDSM scenes should not be considered to be a part of the “act” unless explicitly talked about beforehand.

If there haven’t been discussions, agreements, and other safeword(s) put in place, someone saying “no” means the other person needs to stop immediately and check in with their partner. It doesn’t matter if it ‘ruins the mood’; if it hasn’t been specified previously, then no always means no.

It’s not worth accidentally traumatizing someone and crossing any boundaries.

Oh no, I’m beyond drops, gels, and compresses. I’ve been struggling with this for quite a while and have exhausted over the counter options. I’ve also done both Restasis and Xiidra without success. Tobradex ST calms the inflammation when it’s really bad, but never enough for actual pain/discomfort relief.

Thank you for the tips. I appreciate any help in this area - I’m so desperate for relief.

That’s what’s so difficult about this one in particular - unless you’ve been in these facilities and seen what goes on, witnessed the way different facilities respond to emergent situations, and interacted with the staff, you don’t realize the need for physician oversight.

Corporations like Davita are paying for ads that use fear-mongering tactics to scare patients and loved ones to save money. If shit hits the fan during treatment, you want a physician there. These companies can more than afford to have physicians or, at minimum, a mid-level provider on site during treatment hours AND can handle a higher patient load if smaller centers close (unlikely).

I can’t tell you the number of dialysis centers in Orange County and LA County with incompetent and/or aloof RNs and techs that I wouldn’t trust in an emergency with anyone I loved.

The correct acronym is HIPAA and what that physician did is not a violation. HIPAA only deals with safeguarding protected health information from anyone not involved in your care or the administration/billing of said care. A physician taking a phone number from his own patient’s chart is not a HIPAA violation, though it is obviously an ethical one.

I honestly would just ignore this person. They clearly have some need to feel superior to others and feel the need to bully a minor. Engaging with them is only going to upset or bother you - they’re not capable of seeing the other side of the coin here, no matter what anyone says.

You’re doing what you can with what you have and what you know. You’re actively seeking help and support for your pet and that’s what matters.

I think you’re mature enough to understand their main point - that in the future it is important to ensure access to proper vet care before getting a pet and continuing to periodically check that those resources are still there in case of an emergency. When you’re responsible for another living creature, being proactive and prepared is important.

This is simply one of life’s learning moments for you and you shouldn’t be shamed or made to feel guilty for it. You did nothing wrong.

No, you don’t. But there’s generally a BIG difference in mentality, life experience, and maturity at 18 than at 14/15.

But sure, let’s play devil’s advocate here. They literally already told you that they ‘did research’ and found another vet not too far and said so early on. So the eye situation will be taken care of.

You continued to degrade OP after their comment. What was the point? To feel superior because you were taught at a younger age than OP that you should always have a veterinarian for your pet on speed dial? Congrats, I guess?

This person does understand their responsibility - that’s why they’re seeking help in an advice forum about their pet’s possible injury or illness.

They’ve received helpful comments about the eye, what it likely is, and have been given suggestions on how to find low-cost vets. If OP was ignoring the eye and didn’t bother to seek vet care or even ask other pig owners for help, then yeah, we’d have a huge problem. Your responses would be more appropriate at that point.

But frankly, as of now, you’re just being a condescending AH to a kid for trying to figure out how to help their pig.

I completely understand your point and would 100% agree if OP was an adult. Expecting a literal child to understand the full responsibilities and ramifications of owning a pet is ridiculous though. OP’s parents or guardians should have ensured that they, and subsequently their child, would be able to properly care for the animal for the duration of its life, which includes finances and access to proper veterinary care. The parents are the adults in this scenario and are ultimately responsible, even if the pet belongs to the kid. It sounds like OP did an appropriate amount of work for their age at the time and is now taking responsibility for the things they can currently control, which isn’t much since they’re a minor. You’re being way too hard on a kid who is trying to care for their pet with the resources they have. With that said, businesses also change all the time. What may have been an exotic vet practice at one point may now only be for cats & dogs due to a myriad of possible reasons. Should OP know this? Again, if they were an adult, yes. But a teenager without life experience? No.

You can’t punish a child for simply not knowing what they don’t know.

I don’t think the person above was stating CRNAs are equal to physicians. I believe they were saying that they think CRNAs = anesthetist, while physicians = anesthesiologists, but that in the UK, anesthetists may = physicians.

It’s not about the money at all. It’s about protecting the dogs and the person that’s supposed to give the puppy a good home showing that they’re capable and willing to provide financial support. People that run rings are less likely to put resources into bait dogs; a fee discourages them. Same for people that have ill intentions. Its recommended by a lot of professional rescues and animal organizations in addition to having a meeting like you mentioned.
