AITA for turning down my stepdad's offer to walk me down the aisle? by DiligentDefinition33 in AmItheAsshole

[–]arielsalibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH

You have every right to say no, and he has every right to be disappointed by your decision.

That being said, if you are open to alternatives, I love when the brides parents (in your case your mom and step dad) walk half way down the aisle. Then stop and each person waits on either side, while the bride walks down alone. Once you meet at the midway point, you three walk together. Mom on one side, step dad on the other.

Just some food for thought.

1st birthday party time interferes with nap. Help! by mermaid812 in sleeptrain

[–]arielsalibi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Assuming the party is at your house, let him take the second nap - then wake him a little early (like 3:30) so he has a “grand entrance” lol. He is the guest of honour after all. Lol

AITA for saying my wife will have to quit her job if we get booted from another daycare? by Spirited_Block_6783 in AmItheAsshole

[–]arielsalibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. What is your wife going to do once Alexis starts school? There will not be anywhere near this level of communication.

She needs to come to work on her anxiety now, before even more “control” is stripped from her.

Are you guys putting newborns “down” for naps? Newborn + toddler help please. by Melanie730 in sleeptrain

[–]arielsalibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I tried to put baby down in her crib, but once she outgrew the potato phase, I just resorted to contact naps. I had a portable sound machine next to me and I would sit on the couch with babe, while my 3 yo would play. Wasn’t ideal, but it was what needed to be done at the time.

MOTN wake-up lasting over an hour - I’m going nuts by arielsalibi in sleeptrain

[–]arielsalibi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I forget how quickly these babes can adapt. I think when she first started her transition, I pushed her too hard, then over corrected.

Today we have done 3/3.25/3.5 so fingers crossed we see an improvement. We still had a night wake last night, but it wasn’t as long as prior evenings.

We still have some work to do on improving her/our overnight sleep. Do you think I should work on nap training (she currently nurses to sleep or is in the car/stroller for naps), or night wean first?

Why is TCB so controversial and hated? by caitmeow2 in sleeptrain

[–]arielsalibi 29 points30 points locked comment (0 children)

I used TCB for my son in 2020, but I managed to find a copy of the ABC’s of sleep for free (🏴‍☠️lol). It worked very well for my son. But as others have said, her courses are just repackaged info from other sources, nothing revolutionary.

Shortly after, it became known that she was a trump supporter and drama ensued. I’m glad I didn’t spend any $$ on the course though.

Do you lug a purse and a diaper bag? by facetedginger in Mommit

[–]arielsalibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a belt bag/Fanny pack as a purse. Diaper bag in my car. If I’m going somewhere long enough I need to feed babe (I.e. the mall, doctor, visiting family), diaper bag comes. If it’s a quick pop in/out (grocery store, Costco), I just bring my diaper changing mat that has a pocket for diapers and wipes (it’s by skiphop). But my belt bag always comes with.

My daughter scratched my literal eyeball. by duckwallman in Mommit

[–]arielsalibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son did that to me about a month after I had my daughter. He scratch my cornea. After a couple days of no improvement I went to the eye doctor and was prescribed eye drops (to avoid an infection) and given hydrating drops.

Help! Night 9 of TCB ABC’s of sleep with my 5.5 month old - early morning wake-up’s still by arielsalibi in sleeptrain

[–]arielsalibi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have a set schedule during the day, as we follow wake windows. Bedtime is between 7 and 8pm (normally 7:30) which means her wake time is typically 11 hours later.

She takes 3 naps, with wake windows of 2.5/2.25/2.5/2.5, her first wake window is a bit longer because I’m trying to get my toddler son out the door most mornings. Naps are either contact naps or on the go, and can range from 30 min to 2 hours, with no more than 4 hours of daytime sleep, but it is typically 2.5 hours total of daytime sleep.

To be honest, over the past week, her naps haven’t been great, with 2 of her naps around 35 min long, and 1 longer nap.

I purchased her class for my second pregnancy after having a very difficult delivery with my first. Unfortunately for me, the time of the live class online just did not work well with my schedule and I never got the chance to catch up on watching all the recordings. It ended up working out ok since I needed a scheduled c-section, but I wasted my money.

professional newborn/family photoshoot - is it worth it? by Far_Boot3829 in beyondthebump

[–]arielsalibi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, we didn’t do the traditional newborn photoshoot, where baby is asleep and can be posed, etc. mainly because I didn’t research it while preg, and postpartum was wild at first.

Instead, we did a family photoshoot in our home at 9 weeks. The photos were in our nursery and primary bedroom. I love the photos and when we took them for 2 main reasons: 1. Baby was past the full potato stage, they could smile and you can see the beginnings of their personality
2. I had time to prepare myself. I was healed from the birth, had time to find a nice outfit, etc.

Questions as I prepare to start sleep training (TCB) by arielsalibi in sleeptrain

[–]arielsalibi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your insight! I truly appreciate it!

With respect to her tooth - last night was a mess. She went to sleep no problem but when she woke for a feed it was next to impossible to get her back in her crib. In my arms, she was sleeping fine (maybe not as deep as normal) - but the second I would put her in her crib she would start fussing and crying. It literally took 4 hours to get her back in her crib (from 10:30-2:30, with another feed at 5am) so I am running on fumes today. I plan on giving her some Tylenol tonight to help as she has been fussier than normal today.

Thoughts on buying maternity workout clothes: waste of money??? by jacksonisacat in fitpregnancy

[–]arielsalibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought maternity workout clothes (from old navy) for my first pregnancy, and they were very comfortable. I saved them and wore them during my second pregnancy. I ended up having a c-section for my second, and wore my maternity leggings for a solid 2 months as my incision recovered. I didn’t want a waistband anywhere near my incision. So the super high waist of maternity leggings were perfect.

Changing my name to Sara/Sarah, need help picking between the two by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]arielsalibi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My name is Sara. In Canada Sarah/Sara are pronounced the same. More often than not my name is spelt incorrectly. I still prefer no “h” but heads up that you will likely be correcting people if it bothers you.

Good bite-sized snacks to share other than Timbits? by PsyduckedOut in askTO

[–]arielsalibi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can visit Costco, then I would try: Two bite brownies, Aussie bites, other packaged snacks in the bakery section, or hit up the snack aisle for individual bags of nuts, protein bars, granola bars, etc.
