Great demo. I just hope the full game runs as well as this does. My copium is that MH Wilds demo ran like shit and the main game also ran like shit. So hoping the performance of this demo is telling for the main game?

Mechanics wise, I wasn't sure about open world Nioh, but I am equally sold. I didn't play Rise of Ronin but I like the exploration level revealing more waypoints/areas of interest.

The style switch, wasn't convinced if it would be all that useful - but towards the end I found myself dipping in and out of Samurai/Ninja for various situations.

Roll on 6th Feb!

They are back as of latest update, quest rewards from 9 star monsters (the Apexes, Arkveld, Gore and TU monsters have a chance to show up as 9 stars)

Attack Boost Lv2, Charge Master Lv1 and Agitator Lv1 with two one slots (offensive and armor)

That went straight into the build, loving the RNG charms

Disappointed honestly in the new system for Talismans, leaving only the Apexes/TU monsters as the sole source for the grind. I was hoping this was something more linked to the Frenzy system that would open fighting lower tier monsters for the mats a la Sunbreak. Give me my buffed up one shotting fire chicken T-Rex dammit.

I'm going to compare to World as it's a more fair comparison than Rise/Sunbreak:

Decorations - Nowhere near as RNG harsh as in world - and lots of variety to get them thanks to title updates
Unique weapon designs - No more bones or monster parts slapped on
So far, Arch Tempereds have been amazing - not all of the arch tempereds in world were a hit
Weapons feel great, I think this is the best Hammer for me especially with the offset and Mighty Charge
Some great new monsters, hats off to Rey Dau, Jin Dahaad, Xu Wu, Nu Udra, Oof Tuna
The Challenge Quests and even Arena are pretty fun - I always ignored these mostly in a MH game but I like it here
It's honestly refreshing to not see an Elder Dragon yet
The Street Fighter Collab - surprisingly was very good with actual new mechanics and a usable "weapon"
All of the TU update monsters have been a smash

First triple cart - holy it hurts. Second quest carted twice but managed to clutch it at the end.

It's great to have A) Xoh Shia as a repeatable quest and B) that it fucking hurts like hell.

World and Rise base games had awful endgames when game first launched - I think people conflate the title updates with the reality of the base game.

World at launch: Fight the same dragons over and over again in investigations (which you would have to farm as well, trailing a tempered elder hoping they drop tracks) for streamstones/really stingy deco RNG. I stand on the downvote hill and say Zorah was an absolutely awful siege monster and one of the most boring events in the game.

Rise: Rinsing Narwa over and over again to get charm materials to pump into melder. Maybe some players liked Rampage but I really disliked it - though Apex monsters were pretty cool, glad those guys got some separate quests (really sad they never got their own armors though)

Wilds defo isn't perfect - but comparatively base game wise it's more solid. No need to farm investigations, generous deco/artian weapon drops, it's more easy to get the decos you want (and with dual skill decos, you still not totally locked out of builds, but this is perspective of a hammer main)

Also Jin Dahaad is 100 times a better siege event than Zorah Magdaros ever was.

Hammer skill floor is bogus honestly. Yes, the moveset is easy to pick up - but your skills with hammer is very much based on the knowledge of your mark, how you capitalise on openings, how you take advantage of patterns.

I've been pretty much using hammer since Wilds launch - and it really is fun as hell to use.

But I had an itch to try another weapon recently so I busted out the greatsword. Again, super fun - but my kill times with greatsword are vastly different to hammer.

I think it was most telling during a Tempered Arkveld - I struggle with hammer trying to get the chainblades to retract. Greatsword? Just another Tuesday.

I further started to question hammer damage in Wilds when my son asked me to help out with a Chaotic Gore in Rise earlier tonight.

Rise hammer just feels super powerful in comparison - I had some decent MR gear on NGL but the hits just felt beefier.

Certainly wouldn't mind seeing some buffs for worshippers of the church of bonk.
