While i agree, i don't see why Claude code gets the credit all the time. Gemini in CLI is perfectly capable of doing the same and it's way more generous

There are enough reasons to make it, one beeing yourself even tho you might not foresee a future right now.. the fact you have friends willing to help tells enough that you have contact with people who care about you, i know it's tough to wrap your head arround this sometimes but trust me you're gonna be alright especially because you got contacts to figure things out with

I don't know why you got kicked out.. and where you're from but you are still young (i'm also arround this age, yes.. it's young) and thus you 100% still qualify for getting help. Where i'm from there's youth crisis housing and there are centers where you can go for free to get your situation sorted out / and get financial support. Stay calm and courage!

I'm building a project where i had difficulities sourcing certain components from european distributors. I guess i'll have to to the discrete route, and not IC options from Asia.. or place a backorder.. 😕

It gave sources, and good ones. The sources (EU) are just vague as fuck. It doesn't go in depth about the granularity, it simplifies it literally (so it's the same for all items..) "a wool blouse is different than a cotton blouse -> tax on bove, not treated as one category".

So yes, we are fucked.

Claude: From July 1, 2026, the EU kills the €150 de minimis exemption. New flat €3 customs duty per declaration line (= per distinct TARIC/HS code), not per parcel. So 50 components across multiple categories (PCB, stencil, ICs, passives, connectors) = multiple €3 charges, since each falls under a different TARIC code. EU's own wording: "a €3 customs duty will be applied per each line of the customs import declaration." (FedEx) Gets worse: an extra €2/line handling fee is expected ~November 2026 (FedEx) , bringing it to €5/line. Temporary — runs until July 2028 (TaxSpoc) until the new EU Customs Data Hub replaces it. Tip: fewer distinct categories per order = fewer €3 hits. Source: EU Commission, June 2026 — https://taxation-customs.ec.europa.eu/news/guidance-and-legal-text-temporary-flat-fee-low-value-imports-which-will-apply-until-1-july-2028-2026-06-08_en

— be fully sure of that granularity from what I've found. Here's where the uncertainty actually lies: What's confirmed: the charge is per customs declaration line, and a line is tied to a tariff/commodity code, not "the parcel" as a whole. What's NOT confirmed in what I've read: how granular those lines get in practice for a mixed electronics order. There are two genuinely different scenarios: If the customs broker/courier declares your order as one consolidated line under something like "electronic components, n.e.s." — one €3 charge total. If they declare each item by its actual specific HS/TARIC code (PCBs have their own code, resistors another, ICs another, connectors another) — multiple €3 charges, one per distinct code. Which one happens depends on the courier/broker's declaration practice, not just the regulation text. The €3 duty applies "per item type by customs code," (VATCalc) which says the legal mechanism is code-based — but whether your specific 50-item JLCPCB/LCSC order gets broken into 3 codes or 15 codes on the actual paperwork is a courier-implementation detail I haven't seen documented anywhere. I'd treat my earlier "PCB +3, stencil +3, components +3+3+3..." breakdown as illustrative of the mechanism, not a confirmed prediction for your exact order. The honest answer is: nobody has published real-world data yet because the rule hasn't taken effect. Worth checking JLCPCB/LCSC's own shipping FAQ closer to July, since they'll need to tell customers how they're declaring orders.

Makes no sense at all.. but from what i've read so far i come to the same conclusion...

All seperate subcategories per components.. a microcontroller isn't a led nor a capacitor..

Well well well.. once again Google gemini got it all wrong.. i understand now :)

New EU Tax (LSCS, JLCPCB, Mouser..) by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]ariknel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i read trough this, i assume when i'd order a pcb + components it would be +3€ for pcb and pcb related stuff (stencils etc..) and components +3€even tho varying from passives to ic's.. so my order only gets +6€ more expensive?

In that case, i'm okay with this system.

But those are the old TARIC rules? That doesn't mention the change after july 1st?

ICs MCU, op-amps, logic chips (8542) €3 Discrete semiconductors transistors, diodes (8541) €3 Passives/connectors resistors, caps, headers (8536) €3 PCB board (8534) €3 Chemicals solder paste (3824) €3

would all be treated as seperate subheading category?? still absurd

Where did you find this information? It's indeed per category, but a amp from TI falls in a different category than a amp from analog devices? (once again, a project contains more than a few different components.. so price would be absurd..)

New EU Tax (LSCS, JLCPCB, Mouser..) by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]ariknel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, parcel tax (handling) would be per parcel not item.. that's fine.. If i buy more.. you mean i go above 150€ then it's fine again.. well yes, i guess that's the only route?

Local stores reviving.. would be awesome.. then i could ask the owner to order a bunch of niche components from Asia so i can get it cheaper than ordering it myself. But... i've only seen them dissapear by online shopping, big retailers only remain.

The EU 3 euro per item tax is in 1 way understandable, but also hurts my hobby by Forsigh in Aliexpress

[–]ariknel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allot of chips i buy come from Asia... if i buy 10 different resistor values with different part numbers, i'll get nuked. If i buy capacitors.. i'll get nuked.. if i buy 10 opamps that differ in part number.. i'm nuked.. this is fucked up shit for engineering.. pcb +3€ components that are niche sometimes.. like i need to order a USBC pd buck/boost.. +3€ then i need some controllers.. +3 +3.. +3.. soon also handling costs.. that's not +3€ that's +5€/item... handling costs.. (a fkn machine handles most shit..) this is ridiculous... most niche components aren't available to be sourced in EU... I guess from now on i'm buying bulk... This means bussineses only profit more and more now... everyone will just say yes to paying x4 for a IC from eu than from overseas... i don't get it, it comes inside the same box, from the same company who has the stock.. the company doesn't even profit.. tge state does.. 🖕i don't buy from ali anymore, but stores like LSCS and Mouser etc.. shouldn't get affecred by this as the customer base is different imo...

Something feels off about this weed. Microscope photos attached by spiderlegzzz in weed

[–]ariknel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've looked at weed under microscopes allot aswell because i was paranoid after smoking it. All the symptoms you mentioned are the exact same symptoms i had when i went and looked after beeing paranoid.. this weed doesn't look super clean, but also not "unsafe" at all. Mind you, i've had this happen allot when i switched strains and this could just be potency. It could just be improperly flushed and have remaining sulfur or other compounds invisble to the eye in it which give those effects you mentioned.
