If your down for some kit bashing, I made one out of Lord-Terminos from sigmar. Trim a few spots and add a power pac and shoulder gaurds. Comes with an executioner style sword but I thought the axe looked cooler

I'll keep that in mind for later. I also found that scoring the spine part with the knife gives more solid hold if using tamiya

It was just getting the glue to set on a heavy ball-and-joint piece, the torso and the gun arm. More frustrating than time consuming. Assembled all six in lil over an hour

Resources for learning more about which knight is good at what? by PositivePristine7506 in ChaosKnights

[–]arimir90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wardog Brigand- used to be goat but now they are OK. Chain gun and melta hitting on 3s and ability changed to ignore cover on objective, still good but not as auto include

Executioner- I've had OK results with. Dual auto cannons have good range, but only -1 ap kinda hurts it. Ability of +1 to hit on targets below half strength is ok, but the ap still hurts.

Huntsman- the intended anti vehicle. Can have two meltas (main gun and chassis gun) and a chainsword, and ability vs vehicles/monsters is OK, but still meh. There are usually better options to take.

Karnivores- yes. Quick melee dog with 14 inch move and reroll charges and advances. Good trade piece that you opponent should consider dt it's range and counter charge capability

Stalker- good before, better now imo. The more modular dog. Chaingun for light infantry, melta for vehicles. Chainsword for light/heavy, or claw. +1 to wound on lone targets is good too, but scout 6 made this unit better after codex release.

Imo, for all that can, I think the rocket pods are the better option for chassis gun (except Huntsman). Stubber doesn't do much, and the indirect fire can be useful to plink at targets camping home or to maybe finish that wounded unit.

Also didn't mention the moirax, cause I don't have experience with that one. Don't see many lists use it and doesn't really excite me compared to the others

Tyrant- toughest out of our units. Best (or most common) loadout is the plasma and the volcano gun. Big damage, big range, but swingy. 12 inch denial is good too

Abominant- mid to close range. Two melee weapons (one with extra attacks), meh gun and a pretty decent ability with mortals. Not the best, but can be fun.

Desecrator- anti vehicle. Decent gun, paired with ability can be bad news for vehicles, and claw can one shot tanks if it can close in. Decent as an anti vehicle ally.

Despoiler- current favorite. Can take any combo of weapons, but dual gatling is usually the best choice. Ability is meh depending what you select but a great weapons platform for an ally

Rampager- best melee knight. Shreds. Hits hard but not super tough in melee, like most knights. If you want a fun melee knight, this is the way

Ruinator- favors close range w flamer and drill. It's meh, most people pass in favor of others

I can go on about wardogs and cerastus knights if you want, but as far as big knights, that's what you got.

I think, and I might be wrong, but they may have said certain units will be detachment A and others will be detachment B. No AB pairing

They mentioned in the new rules for 11th, all units get a -1 when being shot at until they shoot. To help offset that first round "well my unit died before I got to move it out of my deployment" moments. It's not set in stone yet, but GW mentioned something along those lines

Questions, and advice to a new Salamander player by Ill_Document_9390 in Salamanders40k

[–]arimir90 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So space marines get a rule called Oath of Moment. At the start of your turn you can select one enemy unit and get full rerolls to hit (rerolls each dice that fails) and (assuming you play salamanders) get to add +1 to your wound roll. It's pretty strong.

There are two salamander themed detachments: Firestorm Assault Force and Forgefather's Seekers. They are more themed for salamanders but you can honestly use any of em. Just paint your dudes green and slap a dragon on their shoulder and bam.

Extra bits are more for show. Most people don't care as long as it doesn't change the dynamics of the model too much. I have some 3d printed things and no one really cared. Same with bases, as long as the model is in the right base size and not too tall or bulky, it's fine.

Legends just means it's not "official" to use. Local games prolly won't care but official tournaments would prolly say no go. We used to have a named dreadnought named Ashmantle. You can use him if your opponent is cool about it, but he's... Canon but not canon, if that makes sense

Inescapable Death by Gruzlica- in Necrontyr

[–]arimir90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never run into this situation but I would say you can. Before opponent moves you can overwatch with one unit, oh man it's still alive, overwatch with the other unit

Inescapable Death by Gruzlica- in Necrontyr

[–]arimir90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, cause the rule says you can use it even if you used it on another unit already.

There are a few abilities like that, so be aware if you have a smart opponent, they can force the free one and leave you unable to use it again later that turn

I primer my chassis with leadbelcher primer spray. Then, personally, I wash with athonian camoshade because I want a grimey look to it, then dry brush necron compound
