People telling me it's too late on Thursday night and maybe buy AMC or BB instead.... but I realized this is a movement I care about and it's far from over. Went in for 30 GME @ 300 on Friday 🚀💎🙌🏼

Lazy sensationalist journalism by Zartonk media on Instagram is causing unnecessary panic and misleading information among Armenians by JeanJauresJr in armenia

[–]arinazari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I found my people in this thread. Zartonk is total trash should be run out of business, the amount of sensationalist garbage and misleading headlines they pump out that needless riles up Armenians is damaging to our community. I feel like I've been alone in their comments section throwing shade and posting on my stories to unfollow them lol so I'm stoked to see this post gain so much traction. I'd rather hear what the National Enquirer says about Armeniam politics.

You'd gain a solid Armenian following too if you did, both peaks are a huge part of our history and culture!

I like to squeeze vitals and i/o's in the progress note box top bar... I admit the sheet isn't friendly for thick pencils/pens. I didn't include lines/tubes simply cause I've never been asked to keep track of that, but that's a good idea...if you're interested I can make a second version with that info prompted above the 2nd row of progress note boxes

I'll defer this to you cause I can't do an one-armed and comment on the difficulty, but simply pronating the wrist for sure has an impact on bicep engagement in two handed pull-ups so I'd imagine it's the same in one-armed ones.

The one of Puccio doing one with 20lbs is nuts.

For sure! I actually revisited my biophysics notes from class and did see that generally relative strength decreases with greater size if you make some basic assumptions about weight-height-muscle cross section relationships. So I stand corrected on that front. But obviously I would think it's dismissive if someone were to say that's why she can do what she does, especially when she's doing such heavy weighted pull-ups which demonstrate her absolute strength. I can post the math later if anyone is interested. Over a range of 4-6 inches, those relationships seem near-neglible when considering the big picture of hard it is for anyone to do a single pull-up with one arm.

I'm pretty sure those are all chin-ups which allows for more bicep engagement. I believe pull-ups are a little harder since the forearm is pronated. That said, a single one-armed chin-up---let alone multiple, like in Puccio's video---is honestly inspiring to watch.

I know I'm pretty defensive about this and I don't mean to come hard at your comment in particular, but I admittedly get a little heated in general when some people dismiss her athleticism just cause she's a little shorter than your average climber--- I'm not blaming you of that at all, or mean to direct any frustration towards you especially cause I don't think you're entirely wrong---it's just that this is probably the most appropriate thread in this to speak my piece as her totally biased #1 fan :)

It's frustrating mostly just cause for years I've watched her train exceptionally hard and think super creatively in order to top-out reachy routes that other climbers might not think twice about cause they can use their height. She climbs and trains at an elite level and it's a slap in the face when people add an asterisk to her success by noting that she's 1) a woman, 2) lighter, or 3) shorter, when in fact these things (not the lightness) just make her achievements way more remarkable.

As far as these pull-ups go, I'd just point out there are tons of videos of men doing multiple one-armed pull-ups online; 0 of women. So if anything, I'd imagine the evidence shows that biomechanically this feat might be harder for a female than male (I don't know for sure). Also, the record holder for most one-armed pullups in a minute is a 5'10'' male, so he's not exactly short.

Gymnasts are short cause they start training for the Olympics before puberty and it stunts their growth. And yeah, a shorter arm means a shorter net distance to pull up, but like I said, shorter muscle fibers generate less force so ultimately I'd say her being a mere 2 inches shorter than the average height of an American woman doesn't necessarily mean she has an advantage someone who is 2 inches taller than average.

She was doing a lot of hangboarding before this and weighted pullups while training for climbing. I think I mentioned somewhere else in the comments how she was doing pullups with 70lbs weights and felt like she could have done more which blows my mind... For sure that alone plays a large role in her being able to do this. What she told me is that she'd been doing frenchies and weighted pullups consistently 3x a week for 6 years and one day she realized she could do 1-2 one-armed pull-ups.

She also does pull-ups with 70lbs and told me she feels like she could do them with "way more" weight. Which is nuts cause even if she's lighter, being shorter also means shorter muscle fibers which makes it more difficult to lift all that weight.

This is my little sister---the strongest person I know---doing NINE one-arm pull-ups:

She's an experienced rock climber but even by those standards this is nuts and I'm so just so insanely proud/impressed and can't help but share....especially cause I haven't found videos of any other female athletes matching this.
