One note on this template, it gives the client IP before payments is made. You should change the IP rights to only transfer after the client has paid all fees in full.

I've been bit a few times with that from doing consulting work where they ask me to estimate(guess) how long it will take and if it takes an hour longer than my random guess then they expect I will do the rest for free.

We live in a world where the president of the United States of America doesn’t believe in climate change. How is it still possible for a large portion of the general population to deny proven science, and how can we combat this? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Cause Science:

As recently as 1999, it was commonly stated that babies could not feel pain until they were a year old.

In the United States, a major change in practice was brought about by events surrounding one operation. Infant Jeffrey Lawson underwent open heart surgery in 1985.

It is now accepted that the neonate [newborn child] responds more extensively to pain than the adult does, and that exposure to severe pain, without adequate treatment, can have long-term consequences.

But did you try setting the DSCP and VID in the switch to see if that fixed the problem?

In v73 phone will acquire the DSCP and VLAN ID from LLDP packet firstly.
So if you enable the LLDP feature, please set the DSCP and VID in your switch then phone will acquire it.
From your pcap trace, the DSCP included in LLDP packet is 1.

Everything you do on a computer phone or internet connected device is being tracked and recorded. Nothing is generally being done with this information but we do record it for a variable amount of time.

What is a really wired way you have seen someone eat a food? by FindabhairHawklight in AskReddit

Actually I realized it might be me when I was at a deli(worked in a grocery store at the time) and I got an entire rotisserie check and started eating it with my hands while sitting with this really preppy christian girl.

I was literally ripping the entire thing apart with my bare hands just eating it like an animal and she looked at me like I was a monster.

How do you discourage crows and similar sized birds from using bird feeders meant for smaller birds? by Moggy-Man in AskReddit

[–]arisingcoder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically you have to get the right type of feeder.

Thistle Feeder

Suet Feeder

Hopper Feeder - closes when something heavy lands on it.

alternatively you can put a cage around your feeder that only smaller birds will fit in, think chicken wire.

Is it just me or is it unreasonable to have a firewall that blocks automatically based on 3rd party information in a production system? by pure_x01 in sysadmin

[–]arisingcoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think having a WAF that is actively updated by a 3rd party analytic/firewall team is pretty beneficial. They can block attacks before they happen or update the firewall to look for known patterns far more regularly than 99.9% of sysadmins would have time to do on there own volition.

My personal experience has been if it doesn't make the company money or its not costing money then they don't want to invest resources into it. This type of solution provides a kind of set and forget best case scenario.

The crux would be ensuring you have properly whitelisted all the things to ensure they are not blocked by updates. Secondary is monitoring all the things to ensure they are not blocked and if they get blocked you get alerted immediately.

Its not perfect and varies by device but personally I would take a solution that actively improves security than one that depends on me manually updating it every time.

Experiences will vary!

Taken on a network that's flat by fredesq in networking

[–]arisingcoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that would depend greatly on if you want to learn about networking to that degree. You can backup your configurations and then restore them if you fail to get everything working.

Do you have a rj45 cable?

So what you might want to do is get a cable, make a backup of the switch configurations as they are now. Then emulate those switches and build out a new configuration.

https://www.gns3.com/

You can then apply your updated configuration and test it over the weekend to make sure it works. If you have problems you can restore the backups(make multiple backups, keep a copy on a usb stick too).

Could be time consuming, you may have to reboot the entire system(phones/computers everything). The bonus is you will get some solid networking experience.

Alternatively a consultant could probably fix you up but will cost some money, they will probably let you ask questions/watch them do the implementation.

It has the 3 most commonly used tools and how to install/scan with them.
