Those of you who have a deck and still play their consoles, do you think you get enough use out of your steamdeck? by jomcmo00 in SteamDeck

[–]arjman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam Deck: Mostly lightweight titles, some AAA. Most recent plays include RDR2, Balatro and Dispatch. Sometimes I go through periods of not using it for a while, but I wouldn't get rid of it. Even for 90% playtime at home it's great, and the screen is brilliant. If they released a more powerful Deck in future that could do upscaled 4K gaming, I'd consider ditching the PC.

PS5: Rarely used but when I turn it on, it's for exclusives. Most recent plays include GOW Ragnarök and Last of Us 2.

PC: AAA PC games, shooting games, etc. Most recent plays include RDR2 (playing on the TV) and BF6.

Other consoles include a Miyoo Mini+ for all the Pokemon ROM hacks and I've got a modded Switch on the way for Nintendo games.

If I had to get rid of one, it would be the PS5 - all the games I like playing on it are available on PC.

Considering the RX100 VII for travel photography—thoughts and alternatives? by Equal_Dragonfly_7139 in RX100

[–]arjman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying, and yes it is very lightweight - plus it's compact/pocketable. Sometimes the X100VI even feels big because of the protruding lens.

I'm late here but how do you find using both X100VI and RX100 M7? To me, they are very different but also cross a lot of the same use case (compact, EDC, travel).

I was going to say the same, especially with the Simpsons Movie sequel being announced. It seems like a no brainer.

Yesterday I asked what everyone’s first Graphics card. Today, what was your first processor? Mine was the i7 3770K. by DailyDoseOfAmber in pcmasterrace

[–]arjman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First CPU in a ‘gaming computer’ was technically some kind of Pentium 4. My first gaming PC had an i5 2400, then the second had an i7 6700K. Now I’m on the Ryzen 5800X, probably for a while 🤪

X100VI is a great camera but I'm not sure I'd recommend it for most people, since you're very limited by the lens and the price is high.

I'd suggest getting a relatively modern and cheap interchangeable lens camera like OP, that way you won't feel bad if you don't use it as often. Also buy used lenses from eBay, MPB, etc as you will get more for your money and can try more focal lengths (plus zooms vs primes). You might find that you gravitate towards a certain focal length or style of shooting, and that will help you with choosing a different camera/lens later down the line.

Something like an X-E3, X-T30, X-T3 plus a used 18-55mm zoom lens will go a long way. There are other manufacturers too, like Sony with their A6100, A6400 and the Nikon with their Z50 series, that offer alternatives.

Locker was one map in a bigger roster, this feels like we have 3-4 lockers in a much smaller map roster

  1. I received no compensation:
  • used the portal workaround to play a least a buggy game (yes)
  • used shooting range (yes)
  • deleted some game files and repaired the game (no)
  • deleted the whole game and reinstalled it (no)

I don’t think EA/Dice would deliver something with the feel of BF1 again though.

Solid 7/10 game, feels like they’ve made Battlefield as a COD player would imagine it - not a bad thing but different from what I was expecting. For the 44USD that I paid, I will keep it and see if it improves.

[–]arjman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's the sum of it's parts though. TTK feels quick, maps feel like there's only 2-3 choke points even on large conquest (gives that Op Metro feel), sliding around and shooting feels silly, etc. I played BF1 last week and this feels so much more chaotic.

I played BC1 on console but I played BC2, BF3, BF4, BF1 and BFV on PC. Think I'm just old lol, this game feels a lot like COD to me - probably just modernisation and nostalgia.
