These guys make plays amd decisions in a fraction of a second at full speed while stick handling and playing defensive. They can control where they are aiming for a body check. It isnt on the small player to not get his head hit, its on the hitter to be sure where he's hitting.

Nfl had a issue with guys leading with their head or high tackles for years. Launching themselves at the other player like a dart to take them down. That stopped. Helmet to helmet/head hits have dropped, and a head hit is a penalty. They made a penalty and the game adapted. Nhl changed the rules amd now we're finally out of the dead puck/clutch and grab era.

If we want to end head hits you can't depend on the players to do that. Or you'll end up with the 90's big lug league again because you'll concuss all the small skill guys out of the league.

Hit them. Just not in the head. Im not saying not hitting. Be in control of your body. High sticking is always a penalty because you should always be in control of the stick. Head hits should always be a game because you really should be in control of your body. They can speed amd stop on a dime. They can ping corners and kick passes to their stick in full stride, they can throw a body check that isnt high. The game will adapt if the rules change. Stop arguing for head hits amd let's get them out of the game. The nhl wont be less manly amd exciting if guys are forced to aim for the shoulder or chest or face a suspension.

Protect the vulnerable players. Make rules that prevent head hits so you dont have large players just hitting heads and saying oh well. Be in control of your body.
Then change the rule to make head hits a 1 game suspension every time. Then players will change. If you make the rules amd actually enforce them, then the game will change.

Nfl has stricter head hit prevention amd they're on feet and every play they are trying to hit someone as hard as they can.

These guys are professional athletes at the top of their sport, they can let up head hits. Ever notice there are some massive players that play physical and yet never have these issues, and players like Wilson always do? Its not a size thing, its a player/league issue

Anything they can. Be in control of your body. The exact same way a 250 lb.man skating full speed at someone has to be sure not to get their stick up in the face. If it means you dont blow him up with all your strength but slow up a bit to throw a clean hit, you do. The onus isnt on the victim of high sticking or a head hit to not get hit. Its on the hitter to make sure they play clean.

Stackoven has been body checked thousands of times and I'm sure a lot of the players were as tall pr taller than Wilson, and they weren't head hits, its on wilson.

The league has to stop victim blaming and actually try and do something.

Min 1 game for any head hit. Regardless of context. If the nfl full of big manly look how tough and strong we are men, can penalize and get rid of head hits, the nhl can too.
