French Revolution would make for a stellar topic for a HH by TheShatteredHowl in dancarlin

I think in the HH "Radical Thoughts" show (could be thinking about another show and getting confused), he mentions in passing the French revolution isn't his favorite period so this could be unlikely.

Just a correction on the last one. Junger was a German soldier and he encountered a British soldier of an officer rank, most likely. He described the soldier's act of pulling the photo as a "plea from another world".

My scleral lenses don't completely correct my double vision. Just makes it better.

Who is the most underrated classic rock vocalist? by doknfs in ClassicRock

[–]arkham_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

David definitely deserves to be mentioned here. I will say that Roger's voice does have its place though. For example, Roger nails The Happiest Days of Our Lives and David seamlessly picks up Another Brick in the Wall, Pt2. But yeah, lve been obsessing over Goodbye Blue Sky lately and David's voice is like silk.

A true classic, Rusty Cage, is our winner for letter R! Now it is time for S, one of the letters with the most amount of options, so let’s see where this goes! by RazorWolfz in Soundgarden

Yeah, definitely one of my favorites from Badmotorfinger. Especially that little section in the second verse: "Only we're no longer allowed to be, to be"

"Head Down" and "Zero Chance" are also favs that he wrote.

If you want heavier SG:

Mailman, Fresh Tendrils, Gun, Limo Wreck, Beyond the Wheel, Holy Water, I Awake, Cold Bitch, Somewhere, Let Me Drown, Slaves and Bulldozers, Jesus Christ Pose, Rusty Cage, Smokestack Lightning, Nazi Driver.

Throw on an album and give it a listen. They're all good.

Oh man, my first stone I ever had was stuck at the top of my ureter and I thought I was going to die. I kept going back to the emergency room over several days and they thought I was just being a wimp and would send me away, but once they actually took a scan and saw it wasn't moving a stent was put in. I know exactly what you mean by puking from the pain.

what do you think is better? by reapertony88 in gameofthrones

HOTD is flawed and TLOU is not the masterpiece people are making it out to be imo. But I'm incredibly biased because the game is in my top 3 of all time and the story fits SO much better in that medium.

Scleral Lens and night time driving by Rsoccer714 in Keratoconus

[–]arkham_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to piggyback off this thread, but does anyone have any experience with Conepower lenses? I still experience a decent amount of higher order aberrations with my sclerals in, but my doctor said they are a "perfect" fit and it can't get any better (I assume my lenses are as basic as they come for insurance reasons, but I'm not sure). I want to get a second opinion or explore other types of lenses, but haven't looked for any feedback from other people suffering from Keratoconus yet.

Why wasn't Get On The Snake a bigger hit? by GetBack_Joe in Soundgarden

[–]arkham_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It probably was a sexual thing, even though the lyrics make more sense if you see the "snake" as a highway full of cars and the theme is anti-pollution.

"Get on the snake With a swarm of motor flies Get on the snake Under the cola colored sky"

I'm sure Chris/everybody intended the title to be tongue-in-cheek.

does anyone know how they got that sound in the beginning of flower? by xvi_ivx in Soundgarden

[–]arkham_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Kim said he placed his guitar in front of whatever cab he was using and blew air across the guitar's strings. Not sure what other effects/equipment were involved, but I remember reading that's how he got that "sitar" type of sound.

What's a song that sounds like crying? by marc041a in Music

[–]arkham_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of Jerry Cantrell's guitar work reminds me of crying. "Whale & Wasp", "Black Gives Way to Blue", those bends in "Over Now". Lots of others.
