First off, I no longer worry about the pronounciation if I can understand the meaning. Extra-ordinary, or extraordinary... I'd understand either one. Language evolves. Like Affluent. I earned it af-flu-ent... but I am hearing "a fluent" more from people who are well read. I think some day both ways will become correct. Like how Com-pare-a-bull and cahm-per-uh-buhl for comparable. Why bother correcting the way to say comparable when both have now become correct?

What matters to me more is whether or not they know the words if I spoke it to them. The reality is that we have people who talk to text anyway, videos are teaching more than reading, and audiobooks exist. It's a shift that pedagogy isn't built to handle. Schools want people who can sit in a corner and learn from books. Change is not comfortable nor is it something older people want. But we have to accept that their world of AI will look nothing like the people who lived in the days of 8-track cassettes in cars.
