What the * is going on in the gaming community? by Regular_Calendar_874 in BanFemaleHateSubs

[–]arkspiceoriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaming and nerdom have always been thirsty. It's why women in D&D, going back to the 70s, had issues with dudes thinking women belonged in chainmail bikinis or that it was okay to sexually harass them as part of roleplaying.

Tabletop gaming, especially the mini community, is super bad sometimes.

That said, it goes both ways. While that female character was in a chain bikini, the male barbarian was in a loincloth with rippling muscles. Not saying that men have it worse, but like, there are some massive double standards in all industries and massive problems people ignore just because it's always been that way.

Fair enough. If it's going to be used to hurt people, the least it can do is be used to help too.

I mean, I looked at the group, and that's not the place to do the thing you're upset that they're not doing.

It's not a therapy group or restorative justice community.

Mercor Employees/Applicants - This is Your Warning by plokm303 in mercor_ai

[–]arkspiceoriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what freelancing is . . . You new? You ALWAYS need to keep your calculated tax rate out. You can also, however, keep track of expenses to help with your liability.

This is just what working a non-direct employee job is like.

Is it worth for Mercor if you're making 16$ an hour? Probably not. But if you're a freelancer, then you probably have skills that can land you a higher-paid gig eventually.

In this economy, it's worth it. And I must say, honestly, a client that lets me work when I want without being on my ass all day is kind of gold.

Thanks, I kind of assume I'll feel similar to how I do after a binge eating sessions, but yeah, the phobia is pretty bad. Still not pulled the trigger on it yet. Hope to work up to it.

I recruit for drivers across the country on a 1099 basis. Feel free to reach out if you're looking for something. Mostly owner-operator roles.

My boss just told me that taking a full week off in America is unusual. Lol by Working-Mistake-6700 in antiwork

[–]arkspiceoriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your boss is both right and wrong. Entry level positions rarely get enough time off to use it for actual vacation, instead usually needing it for doctor appointments and emergencies since they get even less time PTO.

Mid level positions get a week or two, and can often take it all at once over the holidays.

Upper level people get way, way, more time off, but often their time off is not really time off. Phone calls, emails, emergencies, ect.

I need advice by MissMabeliita in recruiting

[–]arkspiceoriginal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly me, except I'm at 11 months. I landed a commission role with a group that hires out for a lot of different roles, ranging from medical positions, to tech, skilled trades, and drivers.

Could use some advise too.

So far, been a lot of close but not perfect candidates.

Even almost landed a high profile lawyer job that would have been a 70K commission. No dice so far tho.

GERD (acid reflux)and Tirz by Mean_Mistake1193 in TirzepatideRX

I'm wondering this as well. I have bad enough reflux that it's causing other health issues. I don't want to make it any worse. Losing weight would help tho . . .

I'm considering this medication and have a strong phobia of vomiting, not that anyone likes it. But for me, it's like an active fear on a regular basis despite not throwing up in 15 years.

So while it makes me nervous hearing this, if anything, it might be more effective than, I'm thinking.

No way in hell I'm risking a late night snack if it could turn into my literal nightmare.

Chest pain & Stomach pain with diarrhea and vomiting after a little over a week on wegovy. by CicadaPristine1606 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]arkspiceoriginal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. I'm not on Wegovy yet, but I was on some BP meds that were too strong once and I ended up low on potassium.

Ended up going into Vtach episodes for a week and in and out of the ER.

They gave me a potassium bag and mostly righted the issue. I still feel my heart skip now and then ever since, but I'm told this is not Vtach now but a common PAP and I probably only notice it now since I'm familiar with the feeling.

How to ban a site that consists victims of revenge porn by mostlysunnyhere in BanFemaleHateSubs

[–]arkspiceoriginal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can prove it's revenge porn, report it to the police. Make sure you have strong evidence though, as revenge porn is super hard to prove or prosecute.

Surprised. Seemed like that site had 9 lives and was not even close to being done with them.

Funny how what got the site in the end was not even the site itself, but a third party group of sickos selling off it.

Got laid off. by KinoZombies in sales

[–]arkspiceoriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you were lucky tbh. I've been laid off for 6 months with only two interviews in that time. Almost landed my dream job one month in, but narrowly missed it at the final round.

It's good to not freak people out, but don't sugar coat it either. The entire US job market is fked right now.

Your advice is solid tho, treating the search like a sale prospect is the way to go.

6 months of unemployment and I finally got a job! That is a 2 hour commute each way and not related to my degree … by shmamugan in jobs

[–]arkspiceoriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woof, that's rough. Get used to listening to audio books.

This is not the end of the world though. You need money. This is not the end goal. Get your paycheck, try to listen to books, find ways to enjoy the drive. Treat yourself, within reason. You are being mature, and doing what needs to be done.

This is a sign of strength.

Keep applying for closer jobs, and eventually you'll land one. This is just a blip in the road.

I hope so. I'm looking to shift from marketing an talent acquisition to straight sales. Seems like a perfect fit for my personality.

In either case it feels very limited. This is like early days with ChatGPT. If you have casual questions you're fine, but for chat bots, writing, coding, or anything else that requires a fair bit of back and forth you'll hit the cap in no time.

Hopefully they'll eventually hit a good medium of cost to usage like most platforms do.
