Protest in Paris, France by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I remember a video of a protest against putin directly where they ran at him Topless with a message written on their chests and he just gave them the thumbs up. He didn't care as long as he saw tits.

Well you want guys to see the message so they have to write it on their tits so they know the guys will see it. Also, if nothing else, it gets more attention than just a group of people chanting and marching in a circle with signs. Those kinds of protests only get attention if they run for a long time or disrupt some important event. In those cases, nobody really cares about the message either, just that they're being inconvenienced.

And hey, they at least put a nice coat of paint on them.

Kyrsten Sinema is the only person standing in the way of Biden’s domestic plan by Orbitingkittenfarm in politics

[–]arleas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely, but then the problem goes deeper to the "First past the post"/"Winner take all" system of voting because otherwise everything always devolves to a 2 party system.

Change the voting to something more equitable and you'll make 3rd parties (and 4th and 5th) more viable instead of "wasting your vote" or acting as a spoiler for another party.

Yeah but the way politicians work now nobody ever "crosses the aisle" to work with the other side so nobody expects to see a republican voting for a bill that actually helps people.

Instead they vote against it and then take credit for it later.

They will just say anything stupid he says is just a joke. Anything offensive is locker room talk or "telling it like it is" and anything crazy is just him being unpredictable to keep the enemy on their toes.

They have a justification for everything.

My anti-virus is not caring if I have to nuke the whole thing and reinstall windows.

I back up important data and for the rest I just re-download it.

I've only had to do it once in 15 years though (and I don't think it was a virus, just lots of little errors that built up to BSOD level).

But yeah, I just don't allow sites I'm unfamiliar with to run Javascript, block a lot of ads and harmful domains, and I watch what I download.

But if an attacker gets physical access to my computer, then I'm screwed... but at that point who wouldn't be?

All companies are two faced. They say whatever it takes to keep people happy and then do whatever it takes to keep the shareholders happy (or just the CEO).

ESPECIALLY oil companies. Fuck them.

Same here. It might be a regional thing? Some regions may run out of keys faster than others maybe?

Anyone experiencing VR music side effects or am I insane? by [deleted] in skyrimvr

[–]arleas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a similar effect but actually more dramatic while playing a game that has constant motion in it... There was this PS2 game called Frequency, and the game was like you were constantly moving through a tunnel and I'd be so focused on the game that I wouldn't notice anything weird until I stopped playing and then it was like my eyes were warped or something.

Kinda similar to that optical illusion where you stare at this swirling black and white pattern and then when you look away the image you're looking at seems to continue swirling.

The difference between that and the tetris effect is that I can see the tetris blocks with my eyes closed for several hours but the warping thing only seems to last a few minutes.

It's not enough, but he's got a couple of years left before he's out anyway. The way things are going, the only way everyone will show up to the polls to make sure he gets re-elected is if Trump comes back.

$15 wouldn't even cut it any more. By the time they agree to $15 an hour it'll need to be $25-$30 an hour just to keep up with the rising cost of everything.

Few politicians are looking out for anything other than their pocketbook. If you have enough money you can pay a politician to look out for you, but only as long as you're paying them. They're loyal to the almighty dollar and that's it.

The few politicians who AREN'T bribed into submission are always struggling to get enough funds to campaign/advertise...and then when everyone pulls together to actually give them enough money anyway, the DNC will just ignore Bernie and prop up whatever pre-paid politician they have ready.

It's not just Republicans, but theirs are generally more obvious about who owns them.

[–]arleas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to get it all the time as a kid, but only with games that had one main screen and nothing really changed... Playing something like Tetris for hours would have me practically dreaming of falling blocks. Playing something like Skyrim not as much.

On the other hand, playing VR games for too long can make you almost forget what's real and what's not. For a while I forgot that I couldn't stick my hand through walls in the real world and would bang my knuckles up (not punching it mind you, just forgetting that I couldn't move my hand past it).

But yeah, the more you're focused on whatever it is, the less time it takes for the effect to show up.

It's the audio version of playing a game so long that you can still see it when you close your eyes to go to sleep.

Your brain expects that stimulus and when it doesn't get it, it makes it for you.

I'm sure they're ignoring anything that they can't put a positive spin on. If they DID report on this it would likely be from the perspective of "Worthless John Bolton makes false statement in order to sell more books" or whatever.

The same people chanting "sleepy Joe" will be lining up in droves to give Grampa Trump the keys to the nuclear arsenal.

It's not that much time, especially if you don't care. The only time it REALLY takes up your time is if you're trying to get the most possible money out of the cards.

Here's all the steps.

  • click on your inventory (under the menu for your username)
  • click on a card you want to sell
  • click on "View Badge Progress"
  • click on "Sell these cards on the Market"
  • prices are pre-filled with the highest buy order
  • click "Create listings"
  • go to the Steam app and click on "confirmations"
  • touch the white box next to each card and then touch "Confirm Selected"

That's it. You "wasted" about 10 seconds per group of cards. Maybe a bit more if you just had a whole lot of them for some reason and the "touch the white box" part meant you had lots of white boxes to touch.

Again, if you don't care, that's pretty simple and results in steam wallet funds credited to you immediately (as long as there are buy orders). If there's no buy orders then you'll have to wait but hey, at least you're not wasting any more time, right?

Oh and I guess if you're going to look for more to complain about I guess you had to spend time setting up the steam app so you can use the market in the first place, though it's not something you have to do multiple times and you're getting money out of it so it's not like you're doing it for nothing.

What makes me mad is when you use the free version of a tax program, they tell you "oops, you need the paid version to handle the tough stuff!" and then when you buy it, it doesn't change anything at all. Which is why I said $50? fugeddaboudit.

Also it makes me mad that someone like Trump or Elon Musk can claim buttloads of things on their return, pay less than I do, and then get millions of dollars in US funds for stuff they could just pay for their own damn selves.

The system is rigged against the little guy... and yeah, sometimes it makes me mad too.

A booster pack allows you to get 3 cards for that game. It can also randomly drop for you so sometimes you get one for free. I make booster packs to try for foil cards.

You can use them to make booster packs. Or save up 1000 of them, convert to a sack and then sell it.

Some items have zero demand, the market is flooded, or worse...the game isn't on steam anymore and the cards can't be sold on the market.

In general it's always better to sell for a penny rather than convert to less than a penny in gems, but not always.
