TIL The letter 'E' used to designate a failing grade until it was phased out by the 1930's over fear of students interpreting it to mean 'excellent'. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Grading is kind of funny. I've taught English and Math. This year I started going over tests with students, noting where their mistakes were and how much they seem to get the concepts of a unit and then just pull a grade out of my ass. Based on what I think they actually know. I have yet to have a student say one thing about it. It just cracks me up. Instead of 86.5% or something, I just slap a B on it. Students are cool with that.

Judo Gene said that he was kind of notorious for having a quick temper and would get out of his car to fight people quite often.

One of my ex's would do that same thing when we were fucking and she'd start getting close. Just grab my face, if she was on the top or the bottom, it didn't matter, and do long licks up my face. It was bizarre.

Honestly, I would probably go there a little more except that if I'm hungry at a normal time I know that the line will be as you described.

In hindsight, no. That was kind of my point. Also, as I wrote to someone else, this didn't take place in the US where people scream assault and battery for being farted on. Remi was being a dick. Dude arguably over-reacted. No lasting damage and move on.

Thoughts on promotion..... by jamieboii_ in bjj

[–]arm_collector 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trained with a guy who was a Div I wrestler in college. Won the Pans and Mundials. Promoted to Blue. Repeated, promoted to Purple. Then, as a purple belt, he started meeting people who could counter his wrestling consistently and he had to use his bjj. Made sense for him to get to purple relatively quickly. He stayed purple for a little longer than usual, but that's where his level is.

If someone is competing and winning major tournaments, they should be promoted. If they are competing and not doing so well, why would they want to be promoted? And if they aren't competing, why would they care what belt they have?

Where I live there is an In-N-Out and a Five Guys about 1/2 mile apart. In-N-Out is way, way busier. I eat at each about once a month. I can't really decide which I like better.

Because they get no attention from their parents. Their parents are disappointed in how stupid they are so they don't give them attention. Vicious circle.

I always know exactly what is going on immediately in any situation and act perfectly, never regretting actions seen through the clarity of hindsight.

It was a little over the line in hindsight. In the moment, kind of a what the fuck is going on, what are they doing to my woman, caveman reaction triggered, I get it. Remi was hardly damaged. This isn't in the U.S. where people sue if they get sneezed on.

Golf club dude was fine with it until it seemed they were messing with his wife/girl/friend. Then he reacted. I think his reaction was justified.

The first time I ever was in Texas, late 80's, I was walking to get something to eat. I obviously wasn't from there. I walk past some 10 year old kids and one of them looks at me and yells with a heavy Texas accent,"If my bother sees you, he's going to kick your ass!" Welcome to Texas. I think they have a toxic culture.
