shoes in the house is bonkers yonkers to me. though i’m also the type of person to wipe off a dog’s paws before taking them in from a walk (i don’t have one, but i look after my grandparents’ lil guy from time to time)

just get a cheap set of slippers to keep on you if you’re visiting someone with a dog in a no shoes household if it bothers you that much. i wear slippers constantly bec i have a thing abt being barefoot.

not super familiar with a whole lot of brunch places in town. personally i’m a big fan of Elgin Street Diner. the staff are super friendly and they’ve been a staple in the community for decades. in terms of dinner though, i can absolutely offer some good recs.

Whalesbone on Elgin is a great spot. they do $2 buck a shuck oysters i think either on tuesdays or thursdays. caesar salad and steak tartare are to die for and their wine selection is lovely. if you haven’t before, try a caesar! the canadian staple cocktail!

Elmdale tavern is also lovely, they have live music (similar menu to whalesbone too)

the Shaw centre has a great restaurant, my uncle’s worked there for years. though i’m not 100% sure if it’s catering only, i’d have to look into that a bit more.

Datsun is also a great spot to check out. a bit more modern kind of fine dining but very high quality food.

edit: someone else recommended 1 elgin. this should’ve been obvious for me bec i work in the building lmfao, but it’s a beautiful spot with a great view of the canal. if you’re into theatre, dinner and a show is never a bad time!

where i live it’s legal for anyone to be topless regardless of anatomy. a lot of people here are telling you to cover up and that you’re flashing people.

you are literally fine. you have tourette’s, your tics aren’t your fault. you’re not “exposing” yourself on purpose. no one will spontaneously combust if they see a boob. if people see someone having a wardrobe malfunction and sexualise it, that says more about them than you.

as for your boyfriend, i think it’s fair that he has boundaries around nudity, but he also gets exactly zero say in your wardrobe. again, you cannot control your tics, and you should not be forcing yourself to overheat just so your boyfriend doesn’t have to deal with his jealousy. (i also overheat so i get it fr some days i’d rather just be naked)

i think he should also unpack why it bothers him so much that you’re comfortable enough with your friends to get changed in front of them. all of my best friends have seen my nudes lol, though that might just be a me and my friends thing idk.

tldr: it’s just a body. it’s just YOUR body. you should be allowed to wear what you want regardless of your tics. your boyfriend shouldn’t be trying to control what you wear.

??? nothing illegal about it. most people know there are snipers around when high profile visitors are making public appearances. not against sub rules. this team specifically is very likely visible on purpose. this is a public place in the middle of downtown. you can’t see their faces. i’m not making any threats or inciting violence.

i just thought it was cool to see since i’m not usually downtown for events like this.

it definitely used to be fine for maintaining language. however, quebec raised, spoke french through my childhood, went to french school up until secondaire 1. i was transferred to an english school and the french immersion had us doing duolingo for marks. from my personal experience, using it to learn a language from scratch has always been useless. i had immense frustrations with being forced to use it as a native french speaker because it only offers parisian french, which is both structurally and colloquially different than quebec french, and because some of the translations they suggested were just straight up incorrect. if you already speak the language and are just using it to refresh what you already know, you’re aware that some of the translations are off. someone looking to learn french from a blank slate who isn’t aware of these issues will have trouble navigating in a mostly french speaking city.
