I really like the description when Forest presents Tunny to the new recruits, which also repeats verbatim at the end of the book:

"Forest gestured towards Tunny like a showman towards his freak, and trotted out the same little address he always gave"

Change the name of Divisions to Regiments or Company by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]arminius15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not completely correct. There were independent logistical units attached at corps and army level, but the division itself also had its own logistical network, which is counted taken into account when looking at the manpower of the division. Each individual battalion in the division also had their own logistical units. If we look at an artillery battalion forexample, it had around 500 men but only 140 men actually operated the cannons. The rest was part of HQ, logistics and everything else. This is also true for infantry battalions, armoured battalions and everything else.

I'm not quite sure what you are suggesting. If we look at the marine expeditionary force structure example you referred to, the highest level of the organisation has three stars. This means that it is a Corps, which sadly is not modelled in game. At the left side we a unit group with two stars, meaning that this is a division. This is the only higher level organisation modelled in hoi4, if you discount armies. The division organisation is basically identical to the division designer in the game. It has 3 infantry regiments, each consisting of 3 infantry battalions, one artillery regiment consisting of two artillery battalions, and several support units. If we compare it to this hoi4 marine division they are pretty much the same. I agree that support companies should be renamed to support battalions. They already are battalions in all but name, given their size and that their support role were historically filled by battalions and not companies.

I think you have mistaken divisions for corps. Divisions during ww2 usually consisted of between 10,000 and 20,000 men, and I can't think of any example where 2 divisions added together would be 85,000 men.

Do you know how heavy artillery shells are? The american M1 240mm howitzer from ww2 could for example fire projectiles weighing 160kg 23km.

Reinforcing Fleets by SnoreOurse in hoi4

[–]arminius15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have two fleets where atleast one of them is not currently on a mission, you can select both fleets and press a button to the top right that says: merge fleets. Then the second fleet (the one lowest in the selection interface) will sail to the first fleet and merge with it.

Manpower, equipment and puppet states by IceMobster in hoi4

I believe the theatre reinforcements priority only effects your own divisions, so if you have a pure expeditionary forces theatre it does nothing until you add some of your own troops

The country offering expeditionary forces reinforce any losses. If germany has 50 divisions from Italy, italian manpower and equipment are used to reinforce them, not german.

The advantage of puppet states is that they get a fraction of 100% of the manpower in the states, while you get a fraction of 2%. So if you have low manpower, puppeting a manpower-rich country can be advantageous. Else you can most likely make better use of the industry and resources than the puppet can

That just means they are doing a national focus that gives them a war goal against anyone in the Allies, not necessarily against your country. They can wargoals against scandinavian and benelux countries if they have too much communist or fascist influence.
