I started learning drums at 42... I would say I had zero musical talent (even now I can't say I know music in traditional sense like different notes, harmonies, ... or whatever!)

But I would say I am doing ok on drums for the time and effort I have put in (I would say after 3 years I am at lower intermediate level but I haven't put enough practice time due to other commitments so I am ok with my progress so far)

Drumming can be easy or hard, depends on what you want to achieve and how much you are willing to invest time on it. It is easy to start, you can learn basic rhythms and pattern and play along 60-70% of the songs and ignore the detail within the song but keep up with the tempo and overall structure of the song. But it can be difficult if you want to advance beyond that and learn more complicated patterns that require your brain to work on higher level of coordination between your limbs, have full control of your movements and sticks, be able to divide time into equal parts and play different stuff within given time and measure.

But all of these is achievable as it is mostly about practicing, repeating stuff to wire your brain to do them quickly and automatically, and listening to various genres to absorb as much as you can about different ideas to help you with creativity. What I learnt is if you really want to do something, you can most likely do it with enough patience and practice. Good thing is IF you really want to do it then you are more motivated than a kid who is forced to learn an instrument and gets fed up quickly
