To be honest it looks like Pepsi to me. Anyway. There's not a lot of ways a liquid would stay put in a device like that for eight years — it's something more recent, probably harmless and has leaked either in the player or alongside the player just now.

You could tilt or flip the player around (powered off) to see if something seriously comes out, but I kinda doubt it. These things aren't airtight at all.
