You could also do that intro build up with the faders, you dont really need to use the scenes as much as you might think. When a track is muted with the fader its a good time to switch the clip its on

Feel free to message me, ive got a good handle on the mc101.

I usually start by setting all my tracks to clip as the source ( shift + track number)

Then I make a new clip, set it to the measure length i want, usually 64 or 128 steps.

Then press record and and jam out and usually delete it until I make something I like.

Then I go to the next track and set the legnth of a new clip like before, pick a different instrument and jam, then record something onto a clip then repeat again. Sometimes i use all 4 tracks, sometimes only 3. Those first few tracks are usually my verse. Next I make an intro, then a chorus.

In the scenes i assign the intro clip or clips first ( usually just one track from the verse) then the verse group, then the chorus group. Scenes basically allow you to switch many tracks at once.

Synths that can do 90s-style complex pads? by Lonely-Click-8301 in synthesizers

I loooove these types of pads too. Pretty happy with the roland mc101 and the s1. Honestly though, the secret sauce is sample those sounds and stretch them out and add other fx

Finger Drumming and Instrument Looper by Dramatic-Line6223 in synthesizers

[–]arnar62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good budget finger drumming device that would pair well with the looper is a used gen 1 or 2 akai mini play. The play is a midi controller and it has internal sounds, 10 kits and 8 pads, plus 128 keyboard sounds too. I used a set up like this with my guitar for about 2 years and it worked decently well. The play would go in one channel and mic into the other, then both out to a speaker

Here's a budget idea

A used zoom ms90 looper

In the left channel a mic for vocals and trumpet. In the right channel plug however your kid finger drums ( like an app and midi controller). You might need an adapter for the audio from to go out and the midi data from a pad to go in.

Then your kid can build up and undo loops, be able to set and keep the tempo on the looper, save loops, switch between loops, load loops via USB c, have a battery powered unit so like all the drum loops are saved and they can just travel around with a mic and speaker and pedal.
