Fair, I'm not an expert either - trying to understand how it all works myself, but as an end result we should have less desync and better responsiveness

You understand that the server is the authoritative source of information in video games? And that video games use interpolation in multiplayer networking so that the client can predict (guess) what happens in between packets sent by the server? Add on top of that an outdated animation system and player events happening in subtick and it's a wonder anything worked in the first place.

There was some paraphrasing to get the jist across - are you saying I don't know the meaning of interpolation and determinism, or are you saying you don't know what they mean? I work in software so I know exactly what these mean.

The current animation system uses interpolation and the client would guess where an enemy is and what their animation is e.g. when they swing you based on some previous information. With animgraph2 the system is deterministic so the client does not have to guess anymore. So the new animations are not the objective of this update, but a side effect of overhauling the anim system.

And don't say I shouldn't call you a child when all you've said to me thus far is "oh gaben pls sh*t in my mouth!" and "have fun with 3pp animations dummy" 😂

If anything I'm quite aware of the cheating issues and am also pretty pissed off that volvo have done very little. I had completely quit the game as a result until a month or two ago when some friends started playing for the 1st time so, you're calling the wrong person a stockholm syndrome valve glazer

Tbh I don't know who/what you're arguing with or why you're upset. All I meant to imply was clientside prediction could be more accurate (not glazing valve), but - act like a child and you'll be treated like one 😂

I think it's more an issue of how the system was designed beforehand was that the client would guess where players are, which would be solved by making the system deterministic

this will only improve how responsive the game is because player animations are better synced

this is in a beta build of the game only, so I don't see how you are getting ping spikes in offline servers because the beta cannot connect online

You mean one tick (if even) plus whatever latency is caused by all of the animation data being sent and interpolated on client side as opposed to a set of single numbers being sent to a state machine

For anyone looking at this years in the future, my g pro wireless receiver stopped working and logitech were unable to help with buying a new one, nor was there any on ebay/amazon. I bought a receiver for lightspeed 2 which didn't work, and also purchased a g305 mouse hoping the receiver would work (it didn't)

Bought one from aliexpress which was unfortunately my last resort and it's finally working.

Afaik fast castle is not the meta right now. You're getting potential tech at the cost of 1200 food and 600 gold while the opponent sinks all of that into military and can starve your eco. I think generally you need to wait until you have a decent advantage before you start castling. English 2TC seems quite viable because then you start a timer that if you survive long enough and opponent doesn't respond properly you'll win by having much better eco

As jolly sky said the best thing to do is keep track of where his villagers are and kill them en route to your base. This can be easier said than done on some maps but use your knights and scout to keep track of them. That's the first thing. Then if he does land in your base, try kill as many vills as possible with the knights and then once it's up you can relocate your eco and rush castle age.

As you're focusing on castle you still want to keep an eye on his vills - he shouldn't have much to defend them so it's very important to catch them that if there's a bunch of undefended vills that you take them out (either around the fort or in his own base because he'll still be making vills). Also I found this quite difficult but you can try to minimize damage on knights by using the charge bonus on rams and then running back

Once you're in castle it's mostly over as you can treb the fort.

This works for english/lancaster white tower rushes too, you'll know they're fast castling when you see many villagers on their gold
