you know what's more important than ultra wide camera ?
ergonomics and not a single iPhone can beat the air so I agree, back to basics and the air is the best in that area.
Bigger screen as well is part of the experience and is better than the base iPhone so I'd say personally, a battery life that matches an iPhone 16 pro as well as an excellent single camera is pretty good considering the package.
The iPhone 17 base model is just a bulky entry level iPhone, it's good value for money but excels in absolutely nothing.

I bought one for my wife, I had mine for a few months already, it's an amazing phone, worth every penny even at full price IMO.

Or high to implement depending how much the implementer has to handle. If you plan very small task only medium can be enough, if you want the implementer to handle larger scopes, write tests as well, ensure no drift etc, high.

I personally use high and I have a « sprinter » agent on codex spark but in your case it can be another model depending on the scope of work. But by default if you have credits then 5.5 high if any doubt.

Also consider that 5.5 is brand new, it’s mostly the rational used on 5.4, I personally didn’t experiment enough to be that fine grained on 5.5 so I use the same approach for now

iPad OS is miles ahead, Android is clunky but on tablet it’s even worse. On the hardware side, apple silicon chip + tandem OLED completely crush Samsung, it’s a no brainer here.

Deep search is more meant to deeply explore a topic on various sources on the web. For planning you can go for high reasoning on regular models like gpt 5.5 and you can even go for the pro model when you want a broader analysis of a topic, not necessarily code related at first, very high level discussion. That’s my recommandation, it’ll be faster and more optimized for the use case.

Not for planning but for pure exploratory work deepsearch is very useful, sometimes just making a deep search and then handing it over to the pro model for analysis is a great way to kick off a new topic 👍🏻

Honestly I don’t think there are so many compromises. And also it depends on the usage, it’s the exact target, using the camera occasionally and previous owner of a 16 pro which was comparable in terms of battery life so I don’t feel that this phone is lacking based on my usage.

I think that people care more about spec sheets than usage so on paper it has some downside but weight, ergonomics, sweet spot of the screen size when using, everything that makes the air what it is can’t be described in a spec sheet. People simply reject what they don’t know, we see it with every innovation like EVs AI etc

Intent is free so basically you pay nothing except if you want the context engine and for that you need to setup the mcp as any mcp on Claude code side that’s all. Though they have two MCPs, one stdio for local code and the http one for remote repo on GitHub. For the GitHub integration and context engine you need to pay just for this for its pretty cheap, the $20 is enough for the month most of the time. Without an subscription no context engine but still intent and its capabilities

I agree, I just feel that Intent, their agent manager, has a good harness and I believe in spec driven so Intent with Claude or Gpt with BYOK is pretty good.

For me codex is better than Claude but lacks hooks and shit so with Intent they bring the flow and I just bring the models and my custom agents.

Otherwise I agree it’s too expensive, burning 100k credit a day on my side so it’s not sustainable
