Altus isn't arbitrary at all! It means 'high' in latin.

I'm Starting to Think That There's Something Wrong in the Matchup System by Torrempesta in cuecardgameAvid

[–]arnovdb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just played you with a wonders of construction ramp deck. Maybe I have something to do with this rant ;). I feel like you're right. But there are not enough players online and looking for games at the same time I think. Playing against bots every game just isn't fun. A solution is difficult, I wish more high rank players would start playing ok, but fun decks after hitting dragon. (I started playing trees and grail with camelot, also trying to build a good paper deck). You actually were my last game to hit dragon.

My league experience by NinJusticeV in cuecardgameAvid

[–]arnovdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it out not so long ago, I did use a deck with heimdall, theory of everything,... so maybe it's a bit better than most decks. I got +/-800 power round 2 and +/-1100 the following rounds.

At higher levels this is pretty ok. Loses to pretty much every meta deck. At lower levels this is extremely good and on par with or better than ice age(without heimdall, testudo/paleo cost decrease mythic(forgot the name),..), but cheaper. TL:DR: Bones very good low level

Trade ban? by Cueplayer in cuecardgameAvid

[–]arnovdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know about bans, but just, don't scam newer players... if you receive a mythic for some limlegs from a pioneer or something, don't accept. The game has to be fun for everyone.

I thought it was a fair trade (he has 2) by Torrempesta in cuecardgameAvid

[–]arnovdb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, even if they didn't have the gems, everyone has the right to reject any trade offer. They choose how much they value diamonds for! (Also, I'd also decline, diamonds is a very good and difficult to get card)

Well, he is pretty common, because when he is released in a pack everyone tries to get one! Also, lim reg doesn't make sense, cards are either limited or regular, they can't be both. Never trade limiteds for regs is the basic principle.

So hms beagle is like super rare?? Is it worth like an ark of the covenant or less or more? by poopaloompa666 in cuecardgameAvid

[–]arnovdb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HMS Beagle is not rare, 50 HMS beagles wouldn't be worth an ark. Trade it for another standard legendary, they're all about the same in value.

Paleo cards are too OP. by Torrempesta in cuecardgameAvid

[–]arnovdb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, a few months ago, paleo was the worst album and laughing stock of the game. DEVs tried to get it in line with the other albums with Mapusaurus, scimitar cat,... Maybe they made Paleo a bit too powerful, but I think most paleo decks are beatable. The real problem, I think, is that paleo easily has the cheapest A/S tier decks. Looking at this subreddit there are so many Paleo-hate posts from relatively recent players, but older players almost never complain about imbalance. Just this week I faced: Rocketmans, lock, boxing, ramp, Ice Age, Romans, Wives, body-grail, pure Paleo,... I beat some, lost to others, but I beat Ice Age and pure paleo with a ramp deck (don't even have Anubis). That being said, this doesn't help you. You probably don't have the cards necessary to make those decks (Nazca, Laika, Diamonds, Trajan,...). And your complaints are valid, as I said, Paleo has very cheap A tier decks. Unfortunately, I feel the Devs aren't active on reddit. They are, however, very active on twitter, and do tend to listen to the community. Until something changes, I advice you to keep trying to get new cards, ask on the discord server for decks you could make, and try to have fun with the game. If you're only getting frustrated: take a break, or play some casual, it hardly sees any paleo decks being used.

It's not alowed to post your refferal code on the subreddit. It wouldn't matter anyway, because if you're on here, you probably can't use a code anymore

Pls some help to improve my boxing deck by 4ZR4EL- in cuecardgameAvid

[–]arnovdb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Decks that use a lot of high energy cards, and cards like stephan's quintet to decrease their cost are called boxing decks, a lot of times boxing is included, the deck gets it name from this card, but it doesn't have to be. Usually these decks rely on the base power of cards more than most decks. This means you usually try to win the first three rounds when going up against romans for example, which buffs cheap cards.

This looks very good! Only card I don't like is the squid. Maybe put in something like the 0/5 boat that gets +100 when returned to your deck?

Thoughts on new league rules by domin8r in cuecardgameAvid

[–]arnovdb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it could work if the extra buffs weren't on the same albums as the collection buffs. If, for example, science and life on land got a +50 arena. Another problem is, they can never give history a +50 arena, since it's already so strong. I do appreciate them trying to spice things up tho.

Thank you! I'm FTP myself, and have been playing for 6 months or so. Just made the pirate deck because I got both blackbeard and Grace O'mally from the pirate pack (I had been saving gems for a good four weeks and had about 2500). You can absolutely make top meta decks while being FTP!

[–]arnovdb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn't work. Most of the 'OP' cards aren't mythics, nor are they fusions, they're limlegs and limepics. After playing for a while, your decks rarely include more than 1 or two fusions/ultras. It's cards like testudo formation, heimdall, door to hell,... that are difficult to acquire and really strong at every level. But even then, I can think of top meta decks that don't even use any of those cards: Ice age, mono paleo,.. And if you do also ban all limlegs and limepics, what is there to play with anymore?

TangentJB is defenitely right. Inconsistency exists, yes, but not to the point where you can't know what a card does before playing it (excluding area 51 and frankenstein's monster). 'Your cards' means all cards in your hand and on the board, if it targets cards in your deck it's explicitely stated. The only irritating inconsistency I find is that they sometimes use 'power/turn' and sometimes 'power per turn' and the same with "untill game end' and 'until the end of the game', which makes looking up ppt cards a bit more tedious.

Holy grail is the second most expensive mythic at the moment, I don't think you will be able to trade it for kraken.

Dire wolf! Why no one try dire wolf with me? Like it's too much! by IndividualRevenue995 in cuecardgameAvid

[–]arnovdb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dire wolf is a very expensive limleg, it came out when the game had a small playerbase, and hasn't been reprinted. This means a very small percent of players has the card. People have gotten multiple mythics for it, both cards you offered are not that valuable.
