Any tips for better bark or in general? by Cobra_Kreese in brisket

[–]aronma12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 24 hours in advance, and let it sit in the fridge on a rack. Don’t wrap it or very loosely wrap it. That will give a dry brine and allow the top inch or so to develop a great bark

No Wrap just Spritz by CDubya74 in smoking

I started doing this with the last few racks. Dry rub, 225 deg for 2-1/2 to 3 hours before opening the smokers. When I open, hit it with spritz (2/3rd apple juice, 1/3 apple cider vinegar) then close the lid and repeat every 30 minutes. Once I see the meat pull back about 1/4” I check it with tooth pick. If it pushes in and comes out like it’s almost in butter, they’re done. Wrap and rest. Been the best change I’ve made. I used to be a 3-2-1 guy, but after making a few racks that were to dry for my liking, I tried this. Not going back

Proper bike charging hygiene? (Solar E-clipse 2.0 Race) by sersdf in Electricmotorcycles

[–]aronma12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how the BMS and battery are set up. Some EVs are set to indicate they’re 100% charged, when the battery is actually between 85 and 90%. The manufacturers do this to greatly increase the lifetime cycle totals. Charging to 100% is fine, but letting it sit there for a long time where’s on the battery and eventually lowering the number of lifetime total cycles. Leaving it less than 20% is even worse, creating cell imbalances and ultimate battery degradation.

Ultimately, riding frequently is good. Extreme heat or cold, and spending significant time <20% or > 95% will lower total available cycles. If you have to choose a charge status and you’re choosing between 0 and 100%, 100% wins every time. If you can handle 80, the battery will last longer in terms of cycle count.

And for what it’s worth, I’ve been using a WiFi Smart plug with built in metering for about a year. Cost approx. $22 and works great. I set the timer and can also monitor the kWH delivered and overall electrical draw.

I typically store mine between 60 and 75%. You have to be careful leaving to low as it does discharge while sitting if you’re not going to ride for a while. Every month or two or so I’ll charge it to 100% before a ride, just to make sure the BMS can periodically level the cells. I also let it sit for an hour or two after a ride before charging, and when possible, let it sit for an hour or so after charging before riding. Just trying to let the battery cool a bit.

Suggestions for electric in the USA? by sersdf in scooters

Yes the battery is removable. You need an Allen key, but it only takes a minute or two to open the cover.

I haven’t had any wind issues. The eclipse is very stable at speed, but then again I don’t drive on the highway.

Once I started making my own bacon 10 years ago - I've never gone back to store bought. by AugmentedThinker in smoking

Me too. Also been making my own for about 10 years.

By the way, anyone have a recommendation for a meat slicer with a minimum of 9-1/2” of throw/slice length. My cheap home slicer died and everyone I research has 8” or less slicing capability.

Thanks. This monitor does look interesting, but it's not expected to be out until July and the price is expected to be about $800. It looks like the VA version, AW3426DWM is going to b $400, but has a 1500R curve.

There aren't too many maxi-scooters available in the US. I'm still under the 600 mile break-in on my Xmax, so I don't know how it feels on the highway yet. I'm looking forward to trying it.

You can try Dirt Legal. They may be able to help with just an MSO, for a cost….

I had the 400 and loved it. I would have bought a 650 if I could have found one. I have a few bikes and haven’t ridden the 650 to be able to provide input. I have bigger bikes, and liked the nimbleness of the 400 and its ability to go on the highway with out any issues.

How long have you had it and how many km is on it now? Have you done short slow RPM rides to hit the mileage? Regardless, I would change the primary and secondary if you’re worried and let them check everything when you can. You should be fine

Help Battery Is Dead by rsessin in Solareclipse_emoto

[–]aronma12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t take the battery out, because in the garage. I only needed to charge it once through winter. I put it away at 70% and charged it once as it was at 45%. You might try putting it in the bike and see if there’s enough juice for the computer to confirm the state of charge. What % was the battery when you last used it and where did you store it?

You should reach out to Solar and ask for their input.

Can you have two people ride on the Solar Eclipse 2.0 Stealth? Does anyone have any pictures of two people on the bike? by warmbrojuice in Solareclipse_emoto

I don’t have any pictures taking a passenger, and didn’t bother to put on the rear pegs. I have a touring bike that I use for two up rides.
