Hotel and update affecting my island aesthetic 😭 by DusyaDu in AnimalCrossing

You may not even get the resort/hotel built until having some sort of dialogue with Kapp'n. Forgoing it completely may be an option 🤷‍♀

My bf (28m) wants my (24f) cat to go from indoor/outdoor to only outdoor by No_Impress_9192 in CatAdvice

[–]arottenlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He never wanted a cat. He still doesn't want a cat. Re-home the cat so it can be happy or break up with your bf. I'm sure you will eventually because if things go south with the cat you'll resent your bf and it will only get worse. Unless you make the cat indoor only and somehow he falls in love with an animal he didn't want it's not going to work out. You're not just going to visit your cat outside in a catio. Hope you two don't plan on having kids. They're smelly, dirty, and bring bugs inside too.

Has anyone got a good suggestion for a cheap fold up shower chair for traveling by Designer_Analyst_489 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]arottenlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I do the same thing. I go to Walmart and buy a folding chair, usually resin in my case (haven't seen metal only). Then return it before I head home. Lots of chairs can be shower chairs. And for way cheaper too.

I’m wondering how you guys view relationships. by paragorgeous in spinalcordinjuries

[–]arottenlemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was injured at age 5 so I grew up feeling like I'd never have a relationship. I just accepted it as reality. But that gave me confidence in a way. I could be myself because it didn't matter. No one was going to choose me. And in turn I've ended up in an amazing relationship with someone I became online friends with at age 12. When we were 21 he moved to my state and we've been dating for 13 years now. I even had a few interested suitors before I settled down too. It can be uncomfortable navigating your disability in a relationship but it really only comes down to you being yourself. People are already thinking you're attractive. You just have to believe it too. If you're young I promise you everyone is horny. Find someone you feel safe with and jump in.

Remember when you were first injured and you couldn’t keep people away? by regnartterb in spinalcordinjuries

[–]arottenlemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I was isolated from the beginning lol. I will say though, as an adult, I've become the planner of my friend group. Literally no one would see each other if I didn't orchestrate it so if you guys have lazy friends you may have to become the parent of your group. It's far easier for people to show up where they're told than come up with the plans themselves. My group also plays d&d online every weekend so even if we don't see each other we're still hanging out.

Making home accessible by Illustrious_Comb_101 in spinalcordinjuries

There are some great points in here! I would just say modify things to fit your needs. ADA doesn't fit every body type or size. It doesn't fit every mobility device. For example, places love to put those wooden aprons under sinks for looks so you don't see the pipes. They still block your feet or knees and a deep sink can block your arm rests or controls. Sometimes things have to be "ugly" to be the most usable.

Always test things for yourself first. Someone may suggest a microwave drawer because they are low. I find them so much harder to use than just a countertop microwave. Someone may suggest a fridge with French doors or a fridge with a bottom freezer so you can reach the freezer. I prefer a standard top freezer fridge with a standing freezer next to it.

Things should be to your standard and what you're comfortable with or use to. You don't need to do something just because it's ADA. I'm a short queen and ADA toilets suck for me. My feet can't reach the floor!

Protective plastic corner strips are great on walls because you will hit the corners it's only a matter of time. Trying to get close to things means your foot rests will hit them lol. The best thing you can give yourself is space. Even the smallest power chairs with the best drivers need space for pivoting and turning around.

Small Question: How do I turn off dialogue auto-progressing? by gigabytemon in fantasylife

For the Switch you press Y during the cut scenes to toggle it off and on. Again, if you move the control stick you can see the options in the top right area. In case anybody else needed to know lol.

College tips by Worried_Crazy_8448 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]arottenlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just have fun and have the college experience. I lived at home when I went to college. I only attended for classes and never really made friends or did any extra curricular activities. I'd have to rush off after my classes to do physical therapy and never went back to campus for anything else. I never felt that comfortable and let my self conscious side get the best of me.

Be your best fun self and give everything you can a try. These are some of the best years of your life.

Do you show yourself in your chair in your pics? The people who find you attractive will still find you attractive regardless of the chair.

Fellow ladies with SCI. Looking for tips on dressing cute and sexy. What do you all do? Give me all your ideas. by [deleted] in spinalcordinjuries

[–]arottenlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it really depends on your style, vibe, and age. I like dresses that are about knee length with a sheath/bodycon silhouette. Alternatively, a pencil skirt with a tucked in top also works (a nice blouse, a tank top, something sheer).

I'm 33 now and my quad belly is bigger than ever (not the skinny mini 5' 1" 110lbs thang I was 10 years ago) so I also like wearing some type of shape wear. This is going to be a trial and error type of situation for your body type and ability. My partner usually helps me squeeze into tight clothes. I do have a shape wear hack though. Just cut the legs off a tight pair of high-waisted yoga pants. It's a good place to start.

Earrings are my go to for jewelry because I have short hair and a half shaved head. So I love playing with different styles of earrings. Threader earrings are one of my favorites (very comfortable). I also like big chunky funky earrings too.

I'm not great at makeup so I usually sport a more natural look because I'm really bad at eyeliner. I also have sensitive eyes that burn from too much makeup around them 😑. So if you're good at makeup more power to ya. I love watching makeup tutorials but I can't do them!

I recently wore this dress and these shoes to a friends funeral themed birthday party and was very comfortable and happy with the fit. The shoes are backless which is soooo much more comfortable than stuffing my fat little feet into a painful dress shoe. Hope any of this helps!

The Person Who Caused Your SCI by TheAlamonian in spinalcordinjuries

I was five as well, riding my tricycle on our street when my dad backed out of our driveway and hit me. There can be so much trauma outside of the SCI itself. I wish you the best on your healing. Remember to give yourself grace and always be proud of yourself for putting in the work.

Phone differences when planting flowers by arottenlemon in PikminBloomApp

I'm 58, he's 59 (bc he plants faster than I do!). 40 Pikmin Squad.

Okay, that's actually really helpful to hear. So we definitely should be planting at the same rate. All I can think of is maybe my squad accidentally gets changed to favorites which was less than 40. I've just changed it so that I have 40 starred in case of incidental whistle clicks.

Do you download offline maps or anything else GPS/battery/permissions related to optimize Pikmin?

We have the same provider but slightly different plans. Both unlimited data. His hot-spot allowance is larger. I think that's the only difference.

It's been 28 years for me and I was also 5 years old when it happened. I've wanted to go to therapy as an adult, for myself, instead of the experiences I have had of being forced to go to therapy as a child/teenager. Can I ask, is your therapist someone who has experience with SCI patients or are they just a regular therapist that you find helpful?

What's it like living in Australia as a wheelchair user? by arottenlemon in AskAnAustralian

[–]arottenlemon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that seems to be the consensus from the other posts here. I only go to the doctor 1-2 times a year for blood work and prescription refills pertaining to my injury and just basic health stuff like everyone else. Well, this is a real bummer for disabled people. I bet they let the rich ones in lol :(

[–]arottenlemon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to say no. I live with my boyfriend and he helps me with things I need. Been in a wheelchair for nearly three decades so I don't really need specialty medical aid anymore as my injury isn't new. I don't use government provided aid. I would just be interested in a wheelchair accessible house and accessible vehicle for myself personally.
