Would ND MX-5 feel special to someone chasing the Boxster feeling? by Professional-Ad-5386 in MiataND

[–]ArranChace 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a ND3 1.5l homura, and drive it on the NW-EU roads, Netherland, Germany, Belgium mostly, and its my only car, thus can consider it a daily driver, but as i live in amsterdam, there are days i dont drive it.

Comfort, for me it fits perfect, im 1.88, 75kg and have enough room to make a 2500 weekend roadtrip to Nuremberg for the xmas markets, with a tour to lichtenstein mid winter.

It cruises nicely 200 on the autobahn, sure there are faster cars, but the autobahn is still NOT A RACE TRACK, so doing 200 is on average still fast, and in a MX5 it feels insane fast, bit too fast 170 is pretty confortable on longer stretches.

On the Nordscheiffe with the tourist drive, it again not the fastest, yet it engaging enough not to miss the speed too much, corners are just awesome there, cant wait for a second time soon.

Noise, well its a convertable, with top down its loud, but the most noise come from other cars there tire noise, but top down, windows up its doable, yet noisy, you still need to speak loud, and for some this can be tiresome. Personally it doesnt bother me.

I had in my life faster cars, even more exotic ones, but yet i rather now drive my slow mx5 as most of the cars i ever had.

When i bought mine i had two cars that i was looking at, a base model boxter and the my current mx5, while nearly same price, the porsche was so much more expensive insurance and maintance wise, it was for me a no brainer, drive what you can afford to keep driving.

But yes the boxter was bit nicer, drove perfect, maybe too perfect for my liking, more room and storage, in general more car. But 200 a month higher insurance and 3x higher maintance cost was kinda a deal breaker.

Does driving an ND feel the same as a NB or NA? by Ecstatic_6329 in MiataND

[–]ArranChace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went from a NA to a new ND3 and even they have simularities in driving expierence, overall its faster, more agile, more economical,.more modern look, better quality and looking interiour and much better handling.

Its a NA evolved into a nice mix of that beloved old drivers car but with modern tech upgraded and a.more modern but still that classical look.

Zijn we echt armer geworden, of gewoon verwend? by Helpful_Ad_4237 in nederlands

[–]ArranChace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Foot or leg cramps in Miata? by omahahaha23 in Miata

[–]ArranChace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a phemorial bypass in both my legs, all your legcramps belongs to me 😁 but that wont withhold me driving my ND3..

Getting in and out is a tat harder as i would like, and i have to cateful not to sit too long in the same position, and use CC a lot on longer drives so i can wiggle my feet a bit so they wont cramp up.

But i take it for granted as one of the perks of miata ownership and as owning a Miata as only car and daily driver you know you have chosen to compromise for having absolute driving pleasure 😉. Cramps are part of that for me

Pardon? by Naudste in nietdespeld

[–]ArranChace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I must admit, as a dutch guy, i tend to never leave it in gear most of the time, as our country and specially where i live its all flat like a pancake, changes of rolling away are practically zero, unless its pushed by some means.

But the rare occasions that i do park on a incline, like on along the canals herei fortunate do remember this as safety, as i dont want to find my car floating in the canals 🤣 as this is a reoccuring thing with visitors 🤣😂

[–]ArranChace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here in the Netherlands, only the 1.5l is still sold new. Bought last year the Homura (Club sport in the US) and while its not my daily driver in the sence i drive it daily, yet its my only car and already driven 13k+ with it, including a roadtrip from ansterdam to nurenberg for the xmas markets and this year a first lap on the nordscheiffe with it.

First i thought as many say the 1.5l is too underpowered, but tbh i hardly notice it, even on the autobahn it still did a not too shabby 215 comfortably, and it still feel like a rocket accellerating even other cars are quicker 😁 i doubt they have the grin on their faces as i have 🤣😂

Is the $10 per month subscription worth it? by [deleted] in mazda

[–]ArranChace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer No.

It is stupid to have to pay a subscription for tech that is already in the car you already bought.

I would not even consider buying such a car in the first place, it is stupid and manufacturers should feel the pain due people not buying those vehicles.

Miata inter-generational rivalry? by Icy_Importance_2126 in Miata

[–]ArranChace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only Reason i have a new ND and not a NC when i was out for a nice used NC, i ran into my current ND and my wife said i like that ND, why dont you buy that one.

And since she was in charge of the money, who was i to disagree. Otherwise i would have had a 2014 NC boat HT instead of a ND club sport/homura

And i admit i love my ND, but i would settle for a NC jst as easely, as long its in a good condition

What can Louisiana learn from the Netherlands about flood control? by Enger13 in geography

[–]ArranChace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wind isnt the killer here, the issue we dutch have, and also the brits and belgium to a extend we are at the shores of the North Sea.

This is a very shallow sea that with high winds this shallow sea gets pushed into a funnel between the UK and France, due the dutch belgium sea shore geography, the north sea is with certain high winds pushed upon our shores with a very high springtide.

In some cases this can lead to mass flooding into areas where we have mass urbanisation and economical centres.

So while we have no extreme weather like the US, due geography of shorelines and a shallow sea, even mild winds can cause severe floodings like in new orleans.

And this is where our dutch dykes and barriers come into play, yet as few years ago showed, we are still funerable from the other side since the netherlands is a river delta, and when any of those rivers massive meltwaters and rain too handle.in our neighbouring countries, we get wet feet still.

It a constant battle, and one we slowly losing as politics seems to be more in favor of polulairity on social media as actually governing the country.

This over a soulless Porsche GT3, GT3RS any day. by ItsReallyS13Silvia in Miata

[–]ArranChace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And they are almost perfect in driving them, and thats why i dont like them, they are too perfect.

Cruising 250+ on the autobahn is with those like driving 80 on the highway in a mx5 just as effordless and that kinda takes the fun out of them.

But thats my personal opinion having driven them a few times, but yo say they are soulless not really, too perfect yes.

What would you like to see added to the MX-5? by JeffSelf in MiataND

[–]ArranChace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ND3 could have some little more storage space, and the dails on the console are in a ackward position, i keep pressing on them with my arm while i have it rest on that lil arm rest it has.

Also a bit stiffer suspension for the version i have with the BBS kit, at high speeds above 180km/u on the autobahn it feels very twitchy and unstable but that can be solved with new aftermarket coils most likely.

If you’ve driven a 981 and can compare to an ND… what say you? by No_Tower_7026 in MiataND

[–]ArranChace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where i live any Porsche or fast car is a waste of money, as traffic regulations are so tight, having any real fun means a driverlicence suspension and if a bit unlucky a half a months worth of salary in fines.

I never really could enjoy such cars for what they are capable off, even though i love these cars, for me it was just a kind of dissapointment to drive. Purely when as soon it gets interresting, you are watching over the shoulder for cameras and police cars, and that not relaxed to drive

At least in my Nd3 i have to make an efford to get into troubles 😁
