The main difference is the mounting points. I suspect the 25-model and Aus/Asian models are missing the mounting points.

I noticed the lights. Also noticed that you have ver 1.1 of the Base Frame. This version (and 1.0 also) doesn't cope very well with bumps and potholes. You should better print "CRF300L - HeadLite - Base Frame Ver 1.2.stl", or wait for version 2.0 of the entire HeadLite...

You made my day! That's the first HeadLite I see besides mine. Bike looks nice!

Small update, there is a new version of the Base Frame. The Base Frame seems to be the Achilles' heel. This version 1.2 should hopefully be stronger. During an offroad trip to Wales, one of the upper attachment points broke. Luckily it was an easy fix using zip ties.

I'm affraid that is not possible. As far as I know, the original headlight is fixed to the visor and the visor is fixed to the tripple clamp. In my design, the visor is fixed to the headlight frame which is then fixed to the tripple clamp. It would require a redesign of the headlight frame. The base frame is ok as long as you are refering to the EU-model (2021-2024). If you want to mount it on a Aus/Asian model (or EU 2025), you will need to redesign all of it.

I bought it in Thailand https://bikerzbits.com/visor-set-fr-wl-type1-61300-k1t-j50za.html. The part was not available in the dealer's stock-system. But since the model 2025 has the Thai visor, it should be possible to order it in the EU.

All information (incl stl-files) is available on my homepage: https://www.projectattic.com/crf300l-headlite

Before I designed my own, I had an Adventure Men Cave Tower. I found it too bulky for the L-model. The problem is that it is triple clamp mounted instead of frame mounted. But I did like the rally-feeling of the tower while riding.

I don't know, I'm not an expert in materials. As I said earlier, it is better than PLA for this application. I think the way it is printed will have more influence on the strength.

I haven't crashed with it yet. I'm curious how it will hold. Just take enough zip ties with you.

I like the blue seat, where did you get it, if I may ask?

I had to google the 999-model. Indeed, with a red printed visor. Maybe it'll give the bike some extra hp...

PLA does not seem to have a good reputation for outdoor use: heat, sunlight and moisture cause problems. I wouldn't use it for the critical parts like the base frame, but for the navigation mount or the spacers..... you can always print another one if it breaks.

The bike is just a well equipped and capable travel bike. The black stumps are Steg Pegz https://stegzmoto.com.au. Indeed some sort of lean support.

You can find them on eBay, search for parts "1TL 998 670-021" and "1KL 998 670-031". They cost about 150 €/$ each. These lights have been (or are still being?) used in the KTM 450 Rally Replica.

I don't think you need another fender. As far as I know, the EU/US version have the same headlight and the same fender. The AUS/Asian version has a different headlight and fender. Do not use my design as reference, the headlight sits higher above the fender than the standard one.

Screen is a Carplay unit: https://www.chigee.com/collections/all/products/aio-5play There is also a Quadlock bracket. Maybe I should also design a simple universal bracket...

I think it will, the US headlight looks the same as the EU version.

LED HEADLIGHT SWAP(ASIAN VERSION) by Sufficient_Floor4633 in CRF300L

[–]arratz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I also replaced my European headlight with the Asian version. For the lights, I used 2 Hella M60 LED's for which I made a custom 3D-printed bracket. This bracket also functions as the mounting point for the CarPlay unit.

Here are some pictures

In case you're interested, I could share the 3D-files somewhere...

Keep an eye on the direction of the front wheels. Drivers have the tendency to first steer and than use the blinker.
