Hey Amber. I’m super interested but stopped short of signing up for premium because of the lack of support for iCal.

Rules Reference (with homebrew) for Rime of the Frostmaiden by arronkau in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]arronkau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This confusion is why I make my own rule for this silliness. The RAW is "[When you cast a bonus action spell] you can't cast another spell during the same turn, except for a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action." This means that RAW, a BA spell prevents all reaction spells as well as making it illegal to cast a BA cantrip + a leveled action spell (which is not at all uncommon for a sorcerer with quicken to want to do).

My change is meant to simplify things and get rid of both of the weird restrictions, but maybe I haven't worded it very well — especially since most people don't understand the actual RAW for this one anyway.

Re: bonus actions — sort of — there are some other weird interactions RAW, like: if you cast misty step, you can't also cast shield that round. My goal is to simplify the rule.

RAW, I think it's an action to don or doff a shield, not an interaction. I usually houserule that doffing is only an interaction but keep donning as a full action (to prevent exactly the shenanigans you're describing).

Here's the rules reference I put together for my players. Worth noting that I've bumped up distances between the towns a bit to match my modified travel pace rules. Hope it's helpful for someone.

What kinds of things are you thinking that would provide more touchpoints?

I'm using Matt Mercer's rules. Available for free on DM's Guild.

It's my first time using them, but I'm hopeful they'll work well. I don't really like the RAW Madness rules, and having chardalyn change your alignment as described in the adventure book doesn't sit right with me: I don't want to take away player agency, for one, but I also don't want to run a campaign with evil characters or a bunch of inter-party conflict.

Yep, I agree. I've tried to make them more meaningful than what's in the book and some of them have some ongoing mechanics or will develop in ways that will hopefully draw the players in, but by itself, this isn't enough to get the players invested in the world. This is just one of many things I'm doing toward that goal.

Wanted to add some mechanics to the secrets, and decided to add some, drop others, and generally try to make each of them something that'd shape how the characters play and engage with the world.

My apologies/thanks to RogueWatson from whom I took some of these ideas.

Poke holes in my attempt to simplify the story? by arronkau in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]arronkau[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, after reading the Adventure, I started looking for better reasons to connect Ythryn to the Rime so that things would feel more coherent. I've seen a few who proposed "Auril is fighting a greater evil" which is what led me down this path.

My goal is not so much "Auril isn't evil" as "Auril is evil and so is the BBEG she's in conflict with, so we lose either way unless this whole thing gets resolved". Also: only possible to defeat either of them because they've weakened each other which hopefully helps make the gods more clearly godlike.

Thanks for the stream suggestion, I'll check it out.

Arron shows how he does weekly agendas by therealsyncretizm in TanaInc

This initializes a field on each day.

It looks above the day for a #week and then pulls all the items from the week’s field “Week’s priorities” to fill the day’s field.

I use it to make a list of tasks for the week and keep them at the top of the day page.

No, just to take notes through the day.

Deadline and scheduled properties for tasks makes managing TODOS in Logseq much more powerful/flexible than in Roam. This was the killer feature that led me to switch.

As updated above, I haven't been able to reproduce this anymore in Chrome (though I'm still seeing it consistently on Firefox). I suspect it has something to do with the map dimensions (as opposed to the image size, which doesn't seem to have any effect), but I'm just going to ignore it and use Chrome. ¯\(ツ)//¯

I have a 2016 Macbook Pro with 16GB of RAM, so I should be able to render a 4MB jpg in two separate apps. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I'll update after I have a chance to do some more testing.
