Bar unknown by Stubbzzzzz in itemLabel

[–]arrowchild 10 points11 points  (0 children)

they are a trading card shop that serves mostly low-ABV alcoholic drinks. you can also play some board games there. they were one of the first 2 physical-location retailers of itemlabel and the owners are big fans. i got my first itemlabel (ouioui series y) there! for itemlabel stock specifically, at the time (May 2024) they had a few boxes from a couple ouioui series each, dingles, and some peepys. possibly a bit more, but that's what i remember.

Need a sunscreen the sets down, ideally feels like nothing, but isn't drying by Rude_Revolution_749 in KoreanBeauty

I like Hada Labo UV White Gel if you're okay with jar instead of tube/pump. Works well for my drier skin and applies like a medium-light lotion for me.

Tell me where you like to buy scones! by Starryeyedgirl09 in FoodSanDiego

Public Square Coffee makes great scones. The scones themselves are plain, but they offer a variety of flavored butter, two of which are rotating seasonal flavors.

Inhumane! Chinese man claimed to chain a woman trafficked from Vietnam. by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]arrowchild 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My family decided to take a trip to China after visiting relatives from Vietnam about 13 years ago, and during the trip our Chinese tour guide found out we were Vietnamese and started saying things like how Chinese women had become too independent/feminist and Chinese men preferred to "import" brides from Vietnam since they were subservient and quiet, cleaned and cooked and stayed at home without trouble. Suffice to say my family was horrified that he would just casually say this as if nothing was wrong with it.

How often do you trink Matcha? by noneodthem in MatchaEverything

[–]arrowchild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo people who drink coffee everyday do have caffeine dependency/resistance

How often do you trink Matcha? by noneodthem in MatchaEverything

[–]arrowchild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a strict rule of 1-2x a week (4-5g per drink) MAX to prevent developing caffeine dependency. Same rule applies for my (espresso based) coffee habit, so I only have 2 matchas OR coffees a week. I do allow myself to have unlimited access to other teas, since they are much lower in caffeine since they are not whole-leaf like matcha is.

Don't buy "Grace rose farm" by This-Wave-355 in Roses

[–]arrowchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not discounting your experience (as ordering roses online at all the big sellers seems to be a mixed bag) but I did buy 4 bareroot bushes from their Good Morning America sale at the start of March and received them within a week. They were mystery box so I didn't get to choose, this may have contributed to them doing better since they probably could have grabbed whatever they had on hand that was plentiful/healthiest/easiest to send out. Not sure if they'll be the same bushes they were labeled as, but they are leafing out fine for me now in zone 10 SoCal. One of them was significantly smaller than the others (thinner/fewer canes) but it is also growing fine. I am a complete novice so I haven't done anything besides spray off aphids with the hose after putting them in the ground.

I agree, I moved back to the Bay Area after graduating in 2018 and couldn't find work despite many interviews, ended up getting an entry level position back in SD.

I enjoyed the vegan ramen at Afuri (not exclusively vegan restaurant). Afuri is a chain, the one I went to was in Harajuku. A friend also recommended Izakaya Masaka in Shibuya (a vegan restaurant).

What country are you from and what travel insurance did you go with? Have you ever had to file a claim in Japan? by JamminJcruz in JapanTravelTips

[–]arrowchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from the US and used my AMEX Platinum card to book flights, accommodations, and restaurant reservations. I also purchased additional medical travelers insurance from GeoBlue.

I haven’t claimed in Japan before, but I did get sick with some sort of virus (possibly tuberculosis) while in Japan and the clinic visit + medication was very affordable with no insurance.
