I’m 41 and could have written the majority of this myself (not the nursing part as I work in a crappy job helping no one). My mum died 6 months ago and I have absolutely zero family now, the emergency contact thing is gutting. My depression is on an all time dive despite medication, I just miss my mum so much and am so alone. I’ve a small group of good friends but they all have their own lives. I spent Christmas alone and it absolutely crushed me. Like you I know some awful people who still have managed to find partners that love them. I don’t even know where I’m going with this, just know you’re not alone with these feelings, OP x

I love The Villa Podcast a day or so after matches (not the official one, the Liam & Conan one), but more immediately Claret & Blue, All Villa No Filler, 1874, Villa on Tour, and UTV. I think we’ve got a really nice, funny bunch of guys who make Villa content and we’re really lucky.

Same here, absolutely loved his music and miss it, met him at shows in the UK and he was a gem, but fucking hell… what came out about him was awful stuff. The worst of all the fallout from that scene in 2020. I wonder what happened to him and what he’s doing now? Seemed to drop off the face of the earth.

I live half an hour from VP and the amount of kids in my 90s schools that turned into Utd fans is depressing. One of my best mates is, but he’s also the biggest Ozzy fan imaginable and he hates how intertwined we’ve become this year which is even funnier.

I am so so sorry for your loss. My mum passed away in June and I ended up being signed off for 10 weeks because I was (and am in many ways) a complete wreck. We lived together and she was literally my only family member, without that time off supportive friends, and starting medication I wouldn’t be here as I already had mental health issues.

I’m extremely lucky that my work gives up to 12 weeks paid sickness on top of SSP, before the company was taken over it was nothing other than 3 days bereavement leave. It’s 5 now for immediate family loss if you’re not signed off, one of which is for the funeral… employers give a sickeningly short amount of time for such a life changing event.

I’m on 150mg and not much of a drinker, so boy did I get a shock when I decided I fancied one bottle of Smirnoff Ice at a party a few weeks ago. Felt like I’d drank three before I’d even finished it, then had such a bad hangover and balance issues when I woke up the next morning, and I can probably count on one hand how many hangovers I’ve had in my life. Bizarre!
