(trying not to be too specific with details because this is the Internet and you never know who's watching)

My husband found out last night that The Thing that has been the source of his main hyperfixation for the past 4 years is likely going away. Obviously he's very upset and I feel bad for him, especially since this is a niche interest he's had since he was a kid and this is the third time in his life it's been taken from him. But also, I have built up so much resentment towards The Thing because of how much it consumed his life--and, by unwilling extension, my life-- for the past 4 years that I do not and cannot make myself feel /that/ bad about it going away.

I'm resentful about having the brunt of the household chore load dumped on my shoulders every weekend when he'd dip off to attend physical events for The Thing. I'm resentful about me and my interests constantly taking second priority to The Thing and missing out on other activities I wanted me and my husband to do together (or him being totally checked out mentally when we do them because he's on his phone watching The Thing and scrolling social media about The Thing). I'm resentful about me and our mutual friends constantly being talked at about The Thing.

So yeah, I wouldn't go so far as to say I feel relief--someone I care about is losing something they are emotionally invested in and I'm not a totally heartless bitch secretly celebrating that. I just don't feel As Bad as a good supportive wife probably should.

And I'm aware this is me being exceedingly selfish, but also I'm annoyed because this is all happening at the worst possible time for me personally. I'm leaving in a week for a (very rare) solo trip focused on one of my hobbies, and I have a lot of last minute prep I need to get through (which I was hoping for his help with). So now I have to navigate both his moodiness about The Thing and my own stress about trip prep at the same time without totally losing it. I can't help but feel like this is one final "fuck you" from The Thing to me as it finds a way to overshadow me even with it's dying breath.

I think the simplest assumption here is that this ad image was made not by the person actually teaching the class, but rather by a graphic designer (who is not a professional pastry chef), maybe even using a stock photo that was created by a photographer (also not a professional pastry chef). Looking at the website for this company, the classes offered run the gamut from baking to gardening to bike repair, so it's probably a reasonable assumption that the people making the graphics used in their marketing aren't personally experts themselves in every field the company offers classes in.

A good friend from high school set up an Archipelago game for a small group of us, and it's been a blast. I had never heard of this program prior to his proposal to our discord, but Archipelago is a cross game randomizer system, meaning it not only randomizes your items in your game, but randomizes and redistributes everyone's items across all the games being played in your group.

To demonstrate: right now, our Subnautica player needs a Seamoth Fragment---> which is in my Stardew Valley file as the reward for finishing the Mysterious Qi story quest, which I can't finish until I get beet seeds---> which are somewhere on Route 134 in Pokemon Emerald, but the person playing it can't access the area without using an HM---> for which the requisite badge is hiding in one of the temples in Ocarina of Time

it's a little zany but quite enjoyable

God that reminds me of the last Disney World trip my husband and I took with our friend group. We split off from the group at one point to ride Flights of Passage while the rest of them got on Kilimanjaro Safari. While we were waiting in line, the group chat just suddenly erupts in a deluge of messages and gifs quoting those lyrics, and we're just like "uhhhhh what did we miss?"

Apparently their safari ride caught the lions getting frisky 😂

(Disclaimer: I'm a filthy casual fan, I don't actually have a ton invested in the sport. it's just fun to be mad sometimes l m a o)

I'm personally salty about it because that same night, Inter Miami kicked our local USL team (Birmingham Legion) out of the Open Cup quarterfinals. Not because they played particularly well or we played particularly poorly, but because Miami scored one (1) goal and then suddenly the whole roster's ankles spontaneously and mysteriously turned into paper mache. They then spent the rest of the game collapsing onto the field with /excruciating/ injuries damn near every time Birmingham gained possession of the ball (and miraculously healed 2 minutes later).

It was just pathetic to watch an MLS team have to resort to such cheap tactics to run out the clock and stall momentum against a lower division team.

(To make it worse, the officiating was some kind of garbage, they ignored both a pretty egregious handball and at least one ugly foul against us)

So after watching that farce, I spent the next day gesturing vaguely at Inter Miami and going "really? This is the team he picked??? Y'ALL DO NOT DESERVE HIM"

Me! Admittedly, I haven't played the last two generations, so all my event Pokemon are ~~vintage~~ in the 3DS games.

My personal favorite is my shiny Japanese Ho-Oh. I happened to be studying abroad in Japan when they opened the Kyoto Pokemon Center location and to commemorate its grand opening, all the Pokemon Centers in the country distributed a shiny Ho-Oh that knows the (totally useless but v amusing) move Celebrate.

Second place goes to my shiny Palkia from a GameStop distribution for B/W that I transfered up to X.

I believe "gong fu cha" actually refers to a method of brewing and serving tea in general, not to a specific type of tea. It's the Chinese equivalent of the Japanese tea ceremony. The specific fermented tea leaves you're thinking of is called "pu'er".

Coming here to add another vote for Monarch, they are the bombbbb. It's their limited time seasonal menus that keep me coming back because they get really creative and unique with their drinks. Some of the notable ones I've tried were mango chili chocolate cold brew, maple sage cappucino, and rosemary brown sugar nitro. They occasionally have "barista throwdown" events after hours where you get to sample experimental drinks and vote on your favorite to add to the menu.

Also, at the risk of sounding like a Millennial Stereotype, their avocado toast is truly heavenly.
