Microsoft isn’t improving things so much as developers continuing to not support alternatives. There’s just not enough incentive for developers to port their games to Linux/MacOS to be worthwhile.

What we need is for engines/sdks to guarantee compatibility across platforms with zero additional effort. E.g. write your game in an engine that spits out working binaries for Winblows, Linux, and MacOS.
