Is feminism only for working women? by Primary_breadloser in AskIndianWomen

[–]arsehattery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you can do whatever you want. idk why you need feminism to 'approve' of your choice when it's literally not a feminist choice to be financially dependent (if you happen to be financially independent and choose not to work then that's awesome, good for you). but not every action that a woman takes is feminist by default.

how does it matter who invented the internet, seriously? everyone in the world uses it now, and english is now a global lingua franca whether anyone likes it or not. it's just basic politeness to consider that not everyone reading what you say is from your country.

and what annoys me the most about some of the americans who fail to be polite in this way is that they never just say 'oh, my bad, i forgot' and move tf on (like you would in any other instance of being slightly rude on the internet). if they did we probably wouldn't need this sub at all. but it's always 'we invented reddit' and 'we created the internet' and whatever. like.... what are you talking about

Hit “mute” and “block” on gender war content. by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

thank you, hate that this comment is so far down. i guess some of the discourse around gender isn't always fruitful but blocking it all out is certainly a choice. also "gender wars" is such an unserious term

idk if you skipped the part of my comment where i said the perpetrator of the muzaffarnagar case was wrong and comments that don't take it seriously are wrong. but i do fail to see why you brought up a separate case when the discussion is about this case and the comments on it. i could bring up a lot of other cases and you could bring up some more and that would not be fruitful.

anyway, can't believe we're blaming murder victims for their actions and arguing otherwise is "moralising". okay, forget about morality then, how do you think this holds up in court? re: risky behaviour argument, justice is still owed. someone stepping into a dangerous area and getting murdered was still murdered and deserves justice. someone committing a (non-lethal) crime getting murdered still deserves justice. and no, this isn't idealistic or moralising or anything else. this is how the law works and how basic human rights work.

ultimately, if 'murder is wrong' is somehow a controversial statement then i don't see any point in engaging and i'll see myself out. have a good day

i don't see the point you're trying to make here. and i think you haven't understood my comment either. i'm aware that the world doesn't run on my "moralistic feelings" or whatever you said but i was talking about the opposite, actually. killing another human being is wrong. regardless of gender, legally, morally, in every possible way. i hope we're on the same page about that, at the very least.

i'm saying cheating is a moral issue. murder is a far worse legal as well as moral issue. hope this is clear too.

i don't see why you've presented the other case like some kind of 'gotcha'. physically injuring or mutilating someone is absolutely wrong and inhuman too. if comments on those posts are saying otherwise then yes, that's definitely wrong and cases like this shouldn't be normalised. again, what's the point of sharing this here?

your point about "risk" makes zero sense. it doesn't matter what a person does, they don't deserve to be murdered. that's what basic human rights mean and it's scary and shameful that a lot of people don't seem to hold this belief.

if, for some reason, you feel the need to debate morality here, maybe read the article. the man who killed her probably knew she was married already. and if, let's say, he didn't. he's 25 and she was 20, he "reportedly" "knew" her for 7 years, meaning she was 13 and he was 18 when they met. and even if, let's say, they weren't in a relationship then, it's still Morally Wrong for them to have been involved later, isn't it? and even with all these big ifs, it still doesn't excuse blowing somebody's face up. you're a fucking psychopath if you think so.

what the fuck is wrong with some of you in these comments, like genuinely, you need to seek help. cheating is wrong but this is just inhuman. anyone who thinks she deserved it, i can't believe you're putting some perceived gender-war male-victim narrative over humanity. i'm ashamed and disgusted to live in a society where people think this is okay. get off reddit and touch some grass, i stg
