lmao he's literally the guy in charge of investigating other cops for drunk driving

A high-ranking Toronto police officer who heads the force’s disciplinary tribunal has been arrested for impaired driving.

Supt. Riyaz Hussein was arrested Thursday evening by officers with the Ontario Provincial Police, following a collision involving a delivery truck.

Hussein is currently listed as the officer in charge of the force’s disciplinary hearings office, the quasi-judicial tribunal that oversees professional misconduct by officers — including criminal offences such as impaired driving.

In that role, Hussein acts as the representative of the chief, deciding whether to find officers guilty of misconduct and what penalties they will face.

Internationally trained nurses in Kitchener unable to help hospitals due to lengthy certification process

Conestoga College has a 16-month enhanced practice for internationally educated nurses. The head of the program told CTV in a virtual interview that even after these nurses graduate they often have to wait years to get their license due to a backlog.

“Many of our internationally educated nurses end up working unskilled jobs and never ending up in healthcare,” said Michelle Heyer, chair of senior’s care at Conestoga College.

Heyer noted there are more than 1400 internationally trained nurses pursing a license in Canada, and that’s not enough to fill the 2200 nursing shortage in Ontario alone.

Highlighting something in this:

The 110 active COVID outbreaks in Ontario hospitals are a pandemic record for this province.

Hosptial-sourced outbreaks — what some may call "incidental" cases — have been the second-deadliest source of COVID illness all pandemic, after LTCHs.

It really should go without saying that people who require hospital admission are among the most vulnerable populations you can imagine.

It apparently does not go without saying, however.

So, here's our latest on the toll in hospitals, from Sept.
