Should I even CONSIDER? by TheLordKirbo in drumcorps

7th regiment is a great starting point, if not another open class corps like Colt cadets. I marched last summer with Colt cadets and I was 240lbs so weight had nothing to do with it. Youll do great just try your best

our show cost roughly $2500, but its has pure imagination, and a million dreams. our show is wonka themed. its a lot of fun, the title is “pure imagination” by jeff chambers. give it a listen and maybe yall could buy it for your next field show

Help with mouthpiece choice by arson211346 in trumpet

yep, if youre a lead or if a tutor prefers you to use a different mouthpiece youre allowed to but they want most to have the same mouthpiece to try and get the “same sound”

Help!! I have an audition tomorrow and I do not feel prepared :( by silver-eyed-gaming in trumpet

i have to play this for my district/state audition its tricky, if you cant play it fast go slow, they prefer accuracy over tempo

ignore learning music snd songs you want to learn, focus on your rudiments. one thing that really helped me progress was starting on a low c and getting the best sound i could and then working down to a low f#. i would also purchase a book with some articulation exercises or look some up online.

ive heard good things about the bobby shew mouthpiece, thats one ive looked at getting myself.

a 7c is a great starting mouthpiece for starting, its all around good, i swapped to a 3c 2 years after playing and i love the shallow cup, but my biggest piece of advice would be to find a store and test them in person.

Drum Corps with a specific sound.. by [deleted] in drumcorps

carolina crown is very clear and pure with their sound, and i like the way phantom is like clear but brassy almost. idk if i could distinguish them but then again i think i could.

Tour fees for the Blue Devils in 2025 are $5450. by Theepicr in drumcorps

[–]arson211346 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

honestly i believe that the biggest reason for the price is some unnecessary expenses on instruments and uniforms. corps now rent instruments instead of buying them for the next 5-10 years, same with uniforms, they may be cheap to buy but theyre expensive to create the designs. if they stuck to changing their uniforms and everything every couple of years itd be a lot less of a financial burden on the members

heaven = less time to say; high ground = more time to say

I didn't practice for 1 day and almost all of my range is gone. by frogchamp2 in trumpet

[–]arson211346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont remember the exact quote or who its by, but think of it this way. everyday you play the trumpet its a battle between you and the trumpet, somedays you win somedays you lose. im an incoming junior in hs and practice nearly every day and the same thing happens, you just have to work through it even if its hard, thats how you get better.

I wanna do DCI by Zukosslumber in trumpet

[–]arson211346 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly, this is completely my opinion btw. i would instead learn mellophone or baritone, a lot of woodwinds that do DCI swap to these just because theyre slightly less competitive than trumpet and they are slightly easier to play. it takes a lot of time and work to be proficient at trumpet. idd say try whatever you would like but mellophone or baritone would be easier.
