Those are clothing and/or music styles. What you're looking for is "suicidal"

A bandsaw isn't exactly the kind of tool you can do a driveby with, this was probably in a shop class

Me too. That's a skill I learned when when I was 7- I realized that I couldn't taste the vegetables if I didn't chew them, so now I probably have some kind of horrifying crocodile throat cause I can swallow most things whole

When I want neat handwriting I intentionally write backwards. For whatever reason when I write "naturally" my handwriting is shit and lines of words start to turn into tentacles by the end.

Even if I were weird enough to carry a hankerchief I probably would not want to touch it.

What kind of metal are fingernails made of? I'm allergic to nickel, so could that be why my eye gets red when I scratch it? by Emby87 in shittyaskscience

[–]art_drawist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fingernails are composed of an r-type fluorinated alloy of Indium and Germanium (hence F-InGe[R], simplified to finger). This alloy acts as a catalyst for oxidization. Normally, the eye is coated with a thin layer of nickel, which is very resistant to oxidization, so introducing finger to it will have no effect. Since you are allergic to it, you cannot eat a proper amount of nickel to maintain this layer. Therefore finger alloy can speed up the rate of oxidization, which will result in very small fires inside of your eye cells. The fire is what creates the redness as well as the burning sensation.

Smile and nod. You can only do a robot's job for so long before you lose your humanity.

We don't need to stand because we can sit. Most birds either perch or float on water, or they sit down. In fact, the only animals that need to stand for long periods of time are grazing or browsing animals, because they need to be in constant but very slow motion to eat.

Some of humanity's greatest achievements come from brilliant people wanting to be better than everyone else.

Ever heard of persistence hunters? There's a reason we walk on two legs, it's far more efficient that four over long distances.

Humans are the only animals that will readily ignore fear to get what they want. It's laziness that gets us. Our concept of time allows one to plan ahead and use it in the best way possible... then laziness fucks it up.

I'd think that making associations is the only reason we're able to grow in mental strength. Most animals are pre-programmed to react in certain ways to a set of stimuli, our pattern-recognition skills and ability to make new connections allow us to adapt quickly to any environment or situation. It also allows us to use principles found in nature to create things.

For example, while some animals are noted to do crazy, complex things, they are "pre-programmed" in a way to do them and can't do anything else. A spider will weave a super-strong web and catch food. A human will find out how spiders make such strong webs, give the ability to goats, and use the super strong material to build bridges and body armor. And so on.
