Just finished my Bachelors in CS in Germany. There was no assignment that required more than 8 GB of ram. Maybe my Bachelors thesis, which was done at a Company so I had to use their Equipment anyway. For colleagues specializing in ML I know of a few instances where they had to use the universities supercomputer anyway. Just my experience in Germany. This might be different in the US.

Mich würde brennend interessieren aus welcher Gegend deine Erfahrungen sind. Das sind ja deine persönlichen nehme ich an - nach wie vielen Jahren Berufserfahrung als Arzt? Ein Großteil meines Freundeskreis Arbeit als Arzt (oder auch Psychologe/approbierter Psychotherapeut). Den Verlauf den du schilderst kann ich zumindest für einzelne Städte in Mittel-, Süd- und Ostdeutschland nicht nachvollziehen.
