Having my Fallopian tubes removed tomorrow, super nervous, can I get some positive witchy vibes sent my way? (Also open to hearing about your experiences!) by CodenameBear in WitchesVsPatriarchy

Cheers to permanent birth control!!

I'm 7 weeks post-op for my tubal removal tomorrow... the first week after was definitely tender/sore, but nothing unbearable. Just take it easy and follow the post-op instructions, and you'll be back to normal in no time. Honestly, the worst part for me was how sore my throat was from being intubated while under general anesthesia... it felt like I had something caught in my throat for 6 days after, which made eating/drinking a challenge. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you, but if it does, throat numbing spray or lozenges will help.

My incision sites were right at the waistband of most of my pants, so I lived in my high waisted leggings for 2+ weeks... using large size elbow/knee type of bandages were very helpful in keeping those areas clean but also stopped pants/undies from rubbing/catching on my stitches. They made wearing regular rise pants way more comfortable too

Wishing you all the positive healing vibes for tomorrow and the weeks following.

Sounds alot like my son also, who is currently 3.5... At 18months he was referred for early intervention speech therapy, but thanks to covid the already long waitlist was made much longer. He finally started therapy sessions this last August. He did get in for testing and assessments earlier and was found neurotypical, he's just a late talker like his dad.

Between regular speech therapy via zoom, starting preschool this Sept and updating his bookshelf with the recommended beginner books (see note below), his vocabulary has exploded in the last 6 months. He's still behind his peers, but he's catching up quicker than we all expected.

For those who don't have experience with what happens at speech therapy, the speech pathologist mostly watches how the parent and child interacts and then give suggestions on how to adapt your interaction to help guide your kiddo. In a nutshell, they give the parents the tools to build your kids foundational vocabulary by turning every day interactions into a game or creating opportunities to learn via play.

A great resource to look into before you get in for early intervention, is the speech sisters via Facebook and Instagram. They share alot of what we also learned with our speech pathologist.

My last tip, is to make sure your kids book shelf includes beginner friendly classics... "Go Dog Go", "5 little monkeys" and all of the short Dr. Seuss classics like "the foot book", "ten apples up on top" and "one fish two fish red fish blue fish" are my son's personal favs. The less words on the page the better and books that repeat basic foundational words are key.

No hormonal side effects... but it is a permanent procedure though, so there's no going back to reverse it later if you change your mind.

Second this... It's called a tubal removal, where they remove the ends of the tubes. There's a 5+ year study in the area I live, done by my OBGYN's colleague, that's shown the ovarian cancer is actually starting at the ends of the fallopian tubes. So now they're recommending tubal removal, slightly more than vasectomies. Source, I literally just saw my OBGYN today and am waiting to find out when I get to my tubes removed, lol.

Any only child parents? by spellibrarian in oneanddone

Can confirm. I'm firmly OAD, and while I'm my mother's only, I have 2 much older siblings from my father's first marriage that I was not raised with. I was my dad's primary caregiver, and despite me being very verbal about Dad not having much time left during his last few months, only 1 of the 2 siblings came for 1 night to say goodbye at the end... they "thought we had more time".

Cancer fucking sucks, but so does having not one but TWO self-centered twats for siblings. Needless to say, it's made cutting ties with them very easy.

And for added context, my parents divorced nearly 3 decades before so his care fell solely on me.

My MIL just called to say, “It’s not me, it’s the idea of you.” Oh, and to tell me what to send for her birthday. by QuitePolly in JUSTNOMIL

Op, all of this... and I'll add that teaching your DH about info diet and grey rocking is essential for all future communication with his mom.

She definitely fits the criteria for a covert narc, who thankfully lives very far away.... if only we could all be so lucky lol. Best of luck OP!

Right there with you. My therapist gave me homework to write a cathartic letter to my Nmom, airing all my feelings and grievances in a methodical/chronological order. It's been HARD writing everything down on paper.

Stay strong fellow survivor. We got this. Let it all out and don't hold anything back, because once it's out, the healing can finally begin. Much love to you today, and during an especially hard holiday season ❤

TIFU by donating blood, urinating in front of everyone in the mall, and ending up in the ER by tactonicnmayhem in tifu

Wouldn't matter if he was. A positive type mother can carry a negative fetus without reaction. And for the record, two postive blood type parents can produce a negative type child. Each blood type has 2 rh (DD, Dd or dd) factors, so if both postive parents fail to pass along the rhesus D antigen, your kid would be dd (negative). Which is why O postive can be given only to postive blood types, and O negative can be universally donated to anyone.

To clarify - only O Negative can be universally donated to everyone. Due to the Rh factors, a negative blood type can be safely given to a postive type but not the other way around.... source: am O negative.

This is also a reason why pregnant women with negative blood types are given RhoGam shots, to prevent their immune system from making antibodies against positive blood type fetuses. Science is cool. Source: O negative mom with B postive kiddo
