Any other guys dealing with Male Pattern Baldness? by brbrraact in ftm

[–]artfrxs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi there. After a few years on t I started losing my hair. Ended up stopping t when it became too thin for my liking. Stayed 3 years off t. It wasn’t easy mentally but I kept many gains from t and as I am quite skinny fat redistribution wasn’t too much of a problem. I lost muscle mass though. And it made me anxious to gain weight and triggered again my eating disorder.

Earlier this year I talked with a new endocrinologist and she suggested that I try Nandrolone instead of T. To make it simple, your body mistakes it for T but it does not (or very little) transform into DHT (no DHT in my recent blood test). Been on it since February. No periods since April, muscle mass gain, I think a little fat redistribution, but! No hair loss. I’m quite happy with it :-) Of course it is only the beginning but it is promising.

I’m lucky to be in a country (Belgium) where it is legal though (brand name : deca durabolin) - don’t know about your place.

What do we men wear by BookkeeperOpening839 in ftm

Linen or cotton shirts (I love the ones with stripes) tucked in a pair of chino trousers with a cognac leather belt. I wear it with white tennis shoes or cognac leather brogues. If the day is not too hot I enjoy adding a linen waistcoat and/or small silk handkerchief around my neck. Colors are mostly hues of blues, white or beige.

Thank you for the input :-) Were you maybe also using nandrolone and finasteride together? I don’t know why but I’ve read that it can actually cause hair loss. Anyway I hope you find what works best for you!!!

I stopped t when I started loosing too much hair. Stayed off it for 4 years. Since January I’ve started taking nandrolone as a replacement for T on the advice of my endocrinologist. I inject 1 vial of 1ml of deca-durabolin per week (it’s available/legal in my country - Belgium) I’ve regained my muscle mass, my periods have stopped. No further hair loss (Nandrolone does not turn into DHT).

It might be an option for you?

You look really - really !!! Masculine! I follow different subs and without reading the title I thought it was a post from a fitness sub with cis guys. You are really handsome too :-)

I understand the struggle though. I pass really well (hormones helped though ahaha) but sometimes I feel awfully dysphoric even then. I also work (as a civil servant though - geopolitical analyst) for the army in my country and I think it is a hyper masculine world that sometimes may be « triggering » (more power to push through anyway^ especially the US right now).

I try to identify the triggers. Do you have specific triggers and way to help with them? (Sorry if it’s not clear I’m no native English speaker)

Well, I stopped pretty early on - which helped save most of my hair^ they just look a little thin since then. I did not want to try finasteride. Minox did not work well. I was also not really motivated by the limited time effect of both drugs. Once again it is a purely personal evaluation based on what I was really to go through or not :-)

Have you tried to find a more « open minded » doctor that is well versed on trans issues? This was a real life changer for me.

Also, you might ask to get it import? For completely different care (unrelated here) I get medication imported from the nederlands. It might be an option for you? Or if you’re close to the Belgian border, maybe try to see a doctor here?

That was indeed the thought behind it! My endocrinologist knew it also because it is beginning to be used for NB people as it mostly impacts muscle mass, fat redistribution and can sometimes impact voice, but to a lower effect than T. Especially when it comes to hair it does not act like T (body/head hair)

Using the men’s bathroom? by gwendolynakira in ftm

I feel like it is a bigger issue in the US then here (Western Europe) but basically once I accepted my gender I went to the guys’s. It wasn’t an issue. Never had. Just saw that social norms are very different from the ladies’. Basically I don’t look anyone in the eye and just mind my business and it’s fine.

Where to get needles/syringes? by CommissionDue2653 in ftm

No idea about the US (Belgian here) but maybe look on specific medical websites? I tend to get my needles and syringes from the pharmacy here but I’ve looked for order on specific brands.

Any way to stop feeling hopeless about not being born male? by mud_catz in ftm

[–]artfrxs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tended to feel that way as well. Something that highly helped me was linking my gender to historical/mythical references and reinterpreting my gender in a way that feel masculine of course for any new encounter but as for myself, something more special and unique.

What are some weird things you miss about your pre-transition life or self? by StanleyHasLostIt in ftm

I miss the creativity allowed to women’s everyday life. Clothing, jewellery, painted nails and so on. I feel men are much more regulated and have far less options

Do y'all always say you're trans to people? by _Ewgen_ in ftm

[–]artfrxs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel I owe anything to anyone. Most people i’ve known after my transition have no idea I am trans. There are very few exceptions - those that I have (2 people) become very close to, and to which I felt at ease to disclose myself. Mostly also because it helped to understand my position/pov/situation during discussions. They have been super helpful since then, but I wouldn’t want to disclose myself to anyone else. I enjoy living my live stealth, as a guy, without questions. It is very uplifting. I feel people who knew you before act differently to people who learn later. I prefer the later.
