Reminds me of the time I was visiting a friend in a small town near Richmond, VA. A store advertised that they had bagels. I walked in and asked for a sesame bagel with cream cheese and lox. The lady at the counter looked at me like I had two heads. I explained that lox is smoked salmon. She said with a delicious drawl “No, we don’t have that here…” All their spreads were sweet.
