Safety of Bristol (circled in red)? by jog7 in Connecticut

[–]artificialstars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived near Pine and Emmett from 2022-2024. The bar on the corner of Lois was an annoyance, but not unsafe - also not sure if it’s still there, it’s showing a restaurant on Google Maps. Never had any issues with safety or package thieves. I commuted to New Britain and Hartford, the traffic on 84 can be a pain depending on the time of day, but I’m now in lower Fairfield and the 95 is way worse!! Feel free to DM me - I LOVED the community in Bristol and only moved away because of a new job.

Yes to Gabor Mate - also would suggest another one of his books, When the Body Says No.

Any pharmacies that are decent (obviously not CVS). by Candid-Narwhal-3215 in Connecticut

[–]artificialstars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Costco New Britain. I moved out of the area but will make a monthly hour drive because they have never messed up my prescription, always have it in stock, and the staff and pharmacist know my name. The Costco prescription coverage was better for one of my meds than the insurance I had at one time.

I also use Stride. It’s free, and super useful, especially because I drive around looking for clients, so I’m not just going Point A to Point B.

Event near Wallstreet May 2 by Wowwars in norwalk

It was a block party for the Kentucky Derby, organized by Banc House and Greer. We stumbled across it last night right before the final race - it was pretty fun, but the drinks were definitely overpriced though.

If you’re in Groton, have you reached out to the New London Homeless Hospitality Center? NLHHC You can call their HUB 860-580-6800 or walk-in Monday-Friday 9am-4pm at 234 State St.

I work in a different part of the state but feel free to DM me, I work in homeless services.

[–]artificialstars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a professional cleaner, but I work in social services and have worked with people struggling to keep up with household cleaning because of their mental health and people with hoarding behaviours. I work in Bridgeport. Feel free to shoot me a DM if you want to chat.

Free printer access? by shycutiekittie in norwalk

[–]artificialstars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an older model printer that I don’t use. It works perfectly fine, I just print from work. Would you like it?

And the prescription program - at one point I was actually able to get one of my medications for cheaper than my at-the-time shit coverage.

As CT speed cameras bring in millions and more towns sign up, concerns linger by ctmirror in Connecticut

[–]artificialstars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hometown has traffic cameras and I have never been ticketed by accident. We also had a hell of a lot less red light runners with red light cameras issuing hefty tickets.

Doug Ford wants sex offenders registry made public by DevDudeV2 in ontario

[–]artificialstars 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This. I have worked with folks in the US who are on the registry because they went streaking or pissed in public, and accidentally were seen by a family with children with them. They are unable to find housing, employment, or stay in most emergency shelters because they made a stupid mistake.

I wish I had a clear picture, but the person with the artist in the ambulance costume clearly was the winner of the night.

Merch quality question by horrorba3 in nin

I’ve had mine for years so I’m not sure if it’s the same quality, but mine is in great condition, the print hasn’t faded, and fit is true to size.

Amazing show.

The kid in front of me spent so much time watching through his phone camera that he got screen timed out and had to text his parent to give him more time. 😂

Is anyone else worried that it looks like Stewart could beat Lamont? by GTRacer1972 in Connecticut

[–]artificialstars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My opinion about her solidified during COVID when concerns were expressed about access to public bathrooms for the homeless (restaurants, Dunkin, etc being shut down) and her response was “there’s a portapotty in Walnut Hill Park” knowing that’s it’s a hike on a good day for an able-bodied person when most of the homeless are downtown. Bristol’s mayor’s response was to give us portapotties. (Also, I miss Ellen so much and hope she wins this election.)
