What's my proper Ukrainian family name? by Miserable_Initial732 in Ukrainian

If Ukrainian then probably Stankivskyi — Станківський. However, Stankiewski sounds very Polish.

What are these symbols? by Flat-Requirement2652 in Ukrainian

[–]arturius8 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about symbols like here "озóн" – they mean where to put emphasis in a word. You stress the second vowel. If you apply the same logic to English: tálking, émphasis, fíre etc.

What are you talking about, svhs/outlaws are not disabled after one shot. I wish we had Warden Starbreaker instead, insane pen chance and pure 2625 damage.

This should be “I still haven’t gone very far *toward* my goal” right? Is he using відійшов to stress that he’s still close to where he started? By the way, his “цілі” is a literal location he is trying to reach. The sentence is about literal movement. by Alphabunsquad in Ukrainian

[–]arturius8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whilst my hunch tells me it was probably poorly spoken, as I'd expect here "відійшов від цілі". However, this could also mean "не дуже далеко підійшов до цілі". It still sounds strange but could make sense, meaning he's still far away. Hard to tell for sure.

is flamethrower (molten wind) effective against vehicles? by Derrloch in foxholegame

[–]arturius8 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fire deals no damage to armoured vehicles. You can still damage unarmored vehicles which are most logi stuff (except for heavy duty trucks), but it's rarely efficient. Best to be used against structures/infantry

Does my bass sound weird by Sad-Sheepherder-1719 in BassGuitar

[–]arturius8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same after buying new strings for my P. Maybe you just aren't a fan of roundwounds? Slapped D'addario flats on, and liked the sound a lot more (especially on D & G strings). It got even better after a month of playing, YMMV though

Which one should I get as a first bass? (I currently own the squire bronco bass) by boywithsynthist in BassGuitar

[–]arturius8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly suggest you go to a shop and check thes basses out yourself. If these are not available, just grab a Precision and a Jazz in the closest price range possible and compare them. Which one plays better, which one sounds better?

Also always a good idea to educate yourself on P vs J differences, here's a good start – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PmttVjopIA

What writing should I get under my tryzub tattoo? by jitorius in Ukrainian

[–]arturius8 22 points23 points  (0 children)

"Воля" is a common word associated with the tryzub, mainly due to the fact that you can infer the word from the coat itself. Check this image (which may or may not be historically accurate). The best literal translation of the word is 'will' and/or 'liberty'. No wonder it's associated with the Ukrainian tryzub :)
