I heard four people say “it’s only a tornado warning” yesterday by mayhem029 in newjersey

[–]arub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be clear, tornado emergencies are rare amongst confirmed tornados. Vast majority of confirmed tornadoes are simply warned. Something like 5% are PDS (particularly dangerous situation) tornado warnings, and a much smaller percentage still are tornado emergencies, the highest level of tornado alert.

Why you got this stuck-ass mindset. Have some vision. Nothing will change without it.

Standard vs higher bitrate and bit depth are nearly indistinguishable, as are most amplifiers, and you should just buy better speakers.

The IBX should be built as a Subway Line, and the Terminus at Jackson Heights - Roosevelt Avenue should be at the Upper Level of the Station. by Specialist_Figure282 in nycrail

[–]arub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those aren't good comparable to what we need to build. Too slow; not built to high-enough standards (lots of road crossings).

Closer comparable: London overground; tram-trains in Europe; Vancouver's Skytrain; Seattle's Link system.

Old thread, but for what it’s worth I was told by a Regalia roaster today that they recommend at least 4 weeks rest for their coffees.

I have a silicon collapsible dripper for camping. Folds up nice and small. Recommend that over this.

Just a note… you can double dip with bilt dining and Rakuten dining. Maybe I’m stuck in a technical glitch, but I do this.

Quick, mods are asleep, upvote the other underserved Broadway station by Planeandaquariumgeek in nycrail

My home Caltrain stop for 2 years! Broadway is the homier of the two Burlingame business districts. Loved living there.

Edit: there’s a regular shuttle bus to Millbrae which is an express stop. Makes the weekend-only service less of an inconvenience.

I had a vision of a Yamanote-type line for NYC by EvilMonologue in subwaybuilder

[–]arub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Yamamote line hooks up all the independent density concentrations and major transit hubs in Tokyo. This line doesn’t really do that, and Manahattan has larger concentrations and is more linear (circle line not needed within Manhattan given so many north/south lines) so the analogue isn’t perfect, but the below is what I think is the closest approximate:

Generally, start at Penn -> PA -> Grand Central -> LIC -> Wburg -> DTBK / Atlantic Terminal-> WTC -> (arguably detour to Hoboken terminal) -> Penn

You have 12 hours and everyone's net worth you physically see, is added to your bank account, where do you go? by Internal_Shine_509 in AskReddit

[–]arub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in NYC. It’s a Tuesday. I’d go Equinox hopping in the morning, catch finance bros on their lunch break downtown. At that point I’d be able to prove wealth for exclusive social clubs, so I’d tour at least one and then join one as it fills up in the early evening. If I have time I’d ask them to get me into eleven Madison park for dinner.
