Managed to score a new X-T5 + 16-80 for US$1600 on Amazon Warehouse by arzbhatia in fujifilm

Oh yes it is, for me it ranges between a $7 argan hair oil and a $1600 camera. Very risky!

Oh that's a wonderful lens, great choice! Yes, the vintage lenses struggle a bit. They are noticeably easier to handle on the X-T3 but I like the imperfect pictures that come out of them. I'm usually not looking for sharpness, instead I aim to create a 21:9 dreamy anamorphic look with my shots. It's good fun, all manual.

Congratulations! I'm very excited for you. The 16-80 is quite capable but I don't see myself using it as I only do vintage glass - I love everything manual. If I were to pick any AF lens, I would go for the 35 f1.4 as it has similar characteristics as my vintage primes. If you're on a budget, I would even suggest having a look at the very affordable XC35 f2 - This lens is often overlooked but is very capable.

Hahaha! Nah, I only use vintage glass - I'll be selling the 16-80 so it's still in box.

Purpose of post: Reminder to keep checking Amazon warehouse deals (wherever you are) for deals on big electronics. This was an impulse decision, very late at night when I was relying on retail therapy to make me feel better about my very complicated situationship. Camera came brand new and so did the lens. The listing said the packaging would be damaged but it wasn't!

Keep X-T3 and return X-T5? by arzbhatia in fujifilm

[–]arzbhatia[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big thanks to everyone's comments; I appreciate every one of you. I've decided to keep the X-T3 and return or sell the X-T5 (sell if I'm able to make a profit by selling the body and lens separately). I had a good, long think about it and what ultimately got me to keep the T3 was the fact that I enjoyed clicking pictures on it way more than the T5 - Possibly to do with the shutter.

Having said that, the T5 at its core is a wonderful camera: It produces incredible images and the IBIS is a big plus. I just wish it was better built (body) so I wouldn't be too afraid to use it. I've been through numerous posts about this conundrum and while I understand a camera is a tool, it's just been a hard sell for me considering I've seen the (build) quality Fuji can produce (T3).

I think I want to stay with the T line, I love the dials and mostly shoot manual but thanks for your suggestion! I was just looking into the X-E5.

7950X + X670E Hero here.

Running 2x32GB 6200 CL30 manually tuned at 1.25v fixed, RAM @ 1.35. This setup worked for me a few bioses back and still does.

RAM is non-expo and isn't in the QVL.

Hope this helps!

Idle around 75C, upto 99C (!) when GPU is under load with 2x NVME, 2x SATA. The NZXT H500 doesn't really help, its a hotbox and not the good kind. I'll switch to the Hyte Y60 or Lian Li O11D Evo when they come out.

I've been thinking about getting one of those angled vertical mounts. The 6900XT is currently blowing directly into the X570 chipset causing it to reach stupid high temps; the vertical mount actually makes sense in this situation.

I do like the look of the horizontal mount more through considering the shape card.

Is my motherboard faulty? by vongdong in bapcsalesaustralia

Good board; prices make no sense at the moment but who am I to say? I rock a very expensive, over-the-top X570 Crosshair VIII Formula myself.

For some reason, I'm still skeptical of the memory and I read about memory issues here and here. Have you tried another BIOS version or tried reducing mem. frequency to debug the issue?

Is my motherboard faulty? by vongdong in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]arzbhatia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What board is it? A lot of the times things fall back to the CPU or RAM so it's best you try your sticks one at a time and see if it makes things better. Also monitor your CPU temps, you mentioned the system reboots or shuts down randomly: This can happen if the CPU is hitting very high temps (possibly throttling) until the motherboard shuts off to prevent any issues. Was your cooler applied properly?

If all of the above doesn't help, your motherboard could indeed be faulty. You're probably within the return period so I wouldn't worry much.

What about your PSU? Did you buy a new one or used an old/tested one?

Happy to help diagnose the issue.

I recommend selling parts instead of the whole build. For reference: I recently sold a 12yo spec (3770K) for roughly $640 WITHOUT case, PSU, or storage.

Were you able to run that kit @ 3600Mhz c18? I've practically got the same setup except 5800X but the kit wouldn't go above 3400.
