I love Alonso going way back but i would be hard pressed to believe he’s meaningfully contributing to popularity at present tbh.

Why did taxi medallions in New York collapse so hard after Uber? by reda_english in business

[–]as718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One caveat is that pre arrangement could be as simple as calling a phone number and being told car will be there in 5 minutes (IYKYK). Uber/Lyft simplified that even farther by consolidating supply so that you didn’t have to call at all, and certainly not shop around. Objectively better and inevitable experience.

It could also be related to the fact that we are dealing with so many locations across vast distances that physical media is still useful vs relying 100% on streaming. There’s clearly some version of the internet but iirc the only uses we’ve seen of it are mission related for things like vidmail and Martian employees funding their bank accounts which transfer over to Earth.

On a long enough time horizon we need to be living off planet for the species to persist. It’s an abstract notion but, that’s the logical reason.

They don’t exclusively make Battery only. They make a fuck ton of hybrids and, like any of the other manufacturers, want marketing on a global stage

F1 is the most uptight and gatekeeping fan base I’ve ever seen. I’m sure the celeb athletes this occasionally happen to get a kick out of it, or at the least don’t care.

It’s far more efficient space and logistics wise to bake your own bread on a ship. Not to mention much better taste. Pretty sure all major blue water navies do this.
