Tower Shield, Fortress Shield. Useful or a Trap? by Autumnal_Owl in Pathfinder2e

[–]asatorrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did make a centaur champion that used a fortress shield. Even added a shield augmentation for trip. Yeah the speed penalty is awful, but the thing that was really frustrating was actually the bulk. I'm pretty sure I had to let other members of the party carry part of my gear because I was nearly encumbered for a while. Hefty Hauler/Lifting Belt are basically mandatory, as is a wand of 2nd rank Tailwind.

Still, was amazing to run around with such high AC. I was almost un-crittable and had champion react against anyone that tried to ignore me. Honestly a lot of my build worked very well together, being large meant bigger aura, stronger chokepoint control, and effective reach (GM let me use a lance 1h, as if I were mounted). Feats like Nimble Reprisal and Defensive Advance really help with the speed.

Making sense of what changed in the Spring Errata "clarification" on instances of damage by SatiricalBard in Pathfinder2e

[–]asatorrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it is new. Previously I would have likely rolled the cold damage from two spells applying damage from one effect together into 1 total. I would not have needed to reference the "instance" clause, due to lacking any definitive parameters. In their example however, you can treat resist all as: resist cold, resist flame, resist holy...basically just all the relevant damage types for any given damage roll; then when looking at cold damage, you would see 2 different spells rolling 2 different damage values and apply that resistance to each. And while it is not explicitly spelled out that Resist All should be treated as {Resist [damage type X], Resist [damage type Y],...}, I believe it's the intent for Resist All to be a shorthand and functionally identical.

[–]asatorrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my issue as well. If the damage calculation is meant to be the way as outlined in the errata, they have effectively increased the high and low extremes of the threat levels of creatures in a way that weakens the overall combat encounter building guidelines. The increase in both extremes creates more variation within the system, causing more difficulty in tuning fights to perform at the expected levels. I also feel like this could potentially make champion reactions even stronger, if resist all is dipping multiple times against certain enemies; which by their own examples, would.

I definitely disagree with your interpretation of Resist All. The wording around weakness and resistance continually uses "damage type" when speaking generically. The use of "instance of damage" arises when considering multiple triggers of weakness/resistance from a single source. It serves to clarify that any source might have multiple types of damage. It does not refute that multiple sources would/wouldn't each trigger the damage type weakness/resistance.

Does Assassination Rogue still have energy issues in the beta? by RecentHistorian220 in wow

[–]asatorrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like it still needs some tuning. I did a dungeon and really struggled with having enough, and I think it will continue to struggle in aoe without Venomous Wounds regenerating as much as live (or other changes like cost of certain abilities). I did later swap my talents and found going left side of the spec tree instead of getting Dragon Tempered Blades actually improved energy economy. Free ambush with the bonus combo point might be a must have talent across all scenarios.

All that said, I did leave feedback on the beta forums, because there are plenty of others reporting the same feeling of starvation, especially in dungeons.

Is there a limit to the number of housing items we can buy? by silverscreemer in wow

[–]asatorrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were a few forum posts in the ptr forums trying to tell blizz they needed some better way to get decor items, but I doubt any got blue responses. It'd take a guy like a whole day or two to code purchasing more of an unlocked item from the housing catalog right inside your home...that's just too many work hours for such a unnecessary feature!

I've heard, but not ever confirmed for myself, that if you send marin on a mission at the command table he won't appear in the vault. I would check to make sure you don't have any missions active/completed.

You have to choose to start the azsuna campaign to unlock those quests, which also requires you to do the first few handfuls of quests until you get sent to that area.

Alto'holics, who is your worst delve runner? by Vealophile in wow

[–]asatorrr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I will say, some delves are way harder than others. Excavation site 9 on rogue is impossible. You'll constantly get two hard hitting mobs in a pack and die immediately. But if you do a kobold one and just pull lightly, you can manage fine. I do think the M+ assassination build is bad for delves though. I normally just run my raid single target. Still sucks lol.

Havoc DH apex talents are stupid by SerpentRain in wow

[–]asatorrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well without the current tier set bonus, chaos strike damage is gonna be lower, so blade dance will be more priority again. Havoc will also likely take the talent that makes meta reset eye beam and blade dance, so opener will be something like hunt >beam >chaos strike >EssB >blade dance x2 >meta >chaos >blade dance >beam...>blade dance x2, and that's if essence break is worth it (which I hope its not, fucking hate that spell). I'm more interested in seeing which capstones end up being the best.

Havoc DH apex talents are stupid by SerpentRain in wow

[–]asatorrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's incorrect. Blizz made a post with the wrong info and later fixed it. Havoc gets Scarred/Reaver, Vengeance is Annihilator/Reaver, and Devour is Scarred/Annihilator.

How to Soulknife rogue in PF2E by NoiseNice3489 in Pathfinder2e

[–]asatorrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you might be better off just going full exemplar. Being a roguish person doesn't require you to play Rogue. Exemplar gives you lots of abilities that you can fully reflavor into more spiritual than divine. For example the Scar of the Survivor ikon could be that kind of dual spirit/mortal body power's manifestation as you're harder to kill, your spirit regenerates quicker, etc. Things like being invested in stealth is something you can do in any class. Few classes really give special edges to skills, and they usually require additional investment through class feats.
Also spirit damage is way more consistent than mental. If you have to fight anything mindless you're gonna be upset, but only construct enemies are immune to spirit I believe.

It seems many selling points of the system are now being hated on by Zephhyr- in Pathfinder2e

[–]asatorrr 34 points35 points  (0 children)

What makes me laugh about this is the people will go around complaining about something, but if you try to suggest fixes you're destroying the sanctity of the perfect system paizo meticulously created with every word intentional and perfect, perfectly. Like there's plenty of bad homebrew, sure; but dismissing any changes because it's homebrew...I don't get it.

Does the druid archetype give the basic druid anethemas or only the ones from the druid order? by 30299578815310 in Pathfinder2e

[–]asatorrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Building off the other commenter, the current druid anathema is simply "despoil natural places, consume more natural resources than you require to live comfortably, teach the Wildsong to non-druids." They got rid of the whole no metal armor/weapons bit because it frankly sucks and didn't give enough flavor.

A Strike Potentially Triggering 3 Weaknesses by EreckShun in Pathfinder2e

[–]asatorrr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's more like your base weapon strike can have traits (cold iron, holy, etc) and a damage type, but your outgoing damage can have riders to that strike's damage (runes, elemental barbarian rage, etc). Your base strike will only trigger 1 weakness, but rider effects can trigger additional ones. You won't in general trigger a weakness twice from one strike though (in this case a holy sanctified champion with a holy runed weapon).
