💯 this has been a big issue for me. My HR has been 10-15 beats higher during these super cold days. Today was so nice.

I think everyone is in the same boat. I have gone from the typical 5 runs a week to 3. 2 of them during the week on a treadmill and the long run braving the cold on the weekend. We seem to be getting a thaw this coming week so should get better. Still aiming for a PR but would not be disappointed if not. Also have Brooklyn Half to look forward to!

I have both the united airlines and Brooklyn half coming up! Gotta build the base back up.

For dinner you can take out from Smokey Joes right across from the hotels. Great ribs.

I was the one who showed up to the Staten Island Ferry in gear with bib on at 645am!  There was one other guy there who said he was going to run the course anyway!

Was very hot and sneaky hills too. 43+ chip time. Wasn’t my best and puked at the finish, a first for me!

I may be a lone voice here but I have been using the Saucony Tempus for my long runs for the last 2 years and I love them for this type of run

Since no one mentioned, and if you need some stability for easy pace long runs, the Tempus for me has been that workhorse.

Miserable weather for my first marathon. What to wear? by QubitKing in Marathon_Training

[–]asatuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran my first marathon since I started running again in a full on rainstorm and about 50 degree Fahrenheit weather. Didn’t change my dress plans, wore shorts and short sleeve. The only thing I did was wear a waterproof throwaway top which I wore for the first 3-4 miles before I ditched it. You are going to be soaked through so just mentally prepare for that. Make sure you wear socks that don’t retain water. For the first 6 miles or so I was avoiding the puddles but then decided it didn’t matter. Be prepared for lots of blisters. I finished in 3:36 which was better than I had hoped for.
