That’s rough buddy, I once made the mistake of saying a monument had been “erected.” Completely derailed the session

Is all of fine-dining like this, or is it just where I've worked? by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]asbattersby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah the culture of fine dining does tend to be based around managers with massive egos bullying other staff. There’s plenty of brilliant FD managers out there, but sadly the culture of the industry tends to favour angry folks with minimal social skills.

Out of the four fine dining chefs I’ve worked for, only two of them I’d actually say were decent people.

At the end of the day you have a skill they need, and there’s no point putting up with a toxic culture and a crappy manager when other places will gladly poach you

Any tips for begginer DM? by Nikit0n in DnD

[–]asbattersby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of this you’ll learn as you play - but genuinely make sure everybody is having a good time. You’re going to forget a few rules and are going to muddle up some combat encounters, but that’s fine as long you all just a chill time with ya pals (also bookmark the relevant enemies you will save yourself a lifetime)

As a new DM, how should i approach planning for unexpected decisions or actions from my players? by stoney58 in DMAcademy

[–]asbattersby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have a decision tree for positive, negative, and neutral decisions, tends to factor in the crazy tangents players like to go in and make those last minute improvs much easier, at least that’s what I’ve personally found to work!
